One of the TEA guys reckons he has an authenticator and still got hacked.. I'm dubious.

I think you can actually set an authenticator to not require anything when you log on. That's kindof pointless and likely the causes of the hacked with authenticator accounts.

If you're going to have an authenticator, need to set it to maximum security - authentication at every login.

I thought it was authenticate once a week unless the game is being logged in from another IP address?

Either way, you've got me concerned about this so I've just set mine to authenticate everytime.

mines been picky about when it chooses to request authenticator. went for a stint of a few weeks without asking, then suddenly every couple of times.. i assumed it was due to resetting the router but now it seems consistent on every login.. for now anyway. wonder whats up. :dodgy:

After switching from the app to the token and logging in once, I was greeted yesterday to another request for authentication even though I had asked battle.net to do it once a week.

Since then, I have restarted the modem as well and it didn't asked me after the restart... until I realised that I have a static IP now

I think I'm just going to keep with the authenticator code everytime just for my piece of mind in case the unlikely happens and someone gets my username, password and manages to fake the IP address.
