are the coolest, I wish I named mine 'Harry Potter'.

anyway, since there are topics for the inferior classes, we need a topic for the greatest of them all!

currently Im running around in nightmare with:

frost nova (with cooldown reduced rune) - dat freeze
ice armor (with 100% strike back dmg) - dat freeze
blizzard (with chance to freeze) - dat freeze
archon (with teleport, simply cos I was running a boss before) - dat power

my main attack is shock with the second to last rune (105% attack power in a straight...ish line yeah!)
and my secondary is arcane mines (seriously good fun) - dat power

my dps is 2k, doesn't really matter though since most of my attacks are 200% or more.
I'm really enjoying archon, the fact that it can get extended is awesome, I can go through entire areas as archon. Current record is 230 creatures killed in a ~20 seconds (gave me a 2 minute archon :D)

my strat is simply arcane mine ever, freeze the **** out of everything, then freeze some more, then some more freeze, mines, and more freeze. If anythings still alive (read: annoying extra health mobs) I go archon on them.

I know a lot of people run power weapon - not surprised when it boosts my dps to almost 3k, but I prefer the ice armor (auto dmg enemies and healing!)

i LOVE the tornado dealy wizards have. i spam the **** out of that spell along with my magic missile, works so well together. fill the room with 5 or so tornadoes. :D

I called mine EvilHermione... she's lvl7, wears Gandalf's hat, and holds a knife in one hand and a ball shaped object in the other. If think she hates men.

im a wizard.

Level 45, generally use Magic Missile(+damage rune), Arcane Orb(+damage rune), Diamond Skin(+absorb or +duration run), Blizzard(+snare duration) or Hydra(Venom rune), Energy Armour (+crit chance rune) and Magic Weapon(+damage rune). Swap out either Magic Missile or Arcane Orb for bosses and put Ray of Frost(-AP cost rune) in - Belial dropped so ridiculously fast just pew-pew'ing him with never-ending Ray of Frost.

A 2H is generally better than a 1h+offhand, unless your build is constant spamming of Signature Spells. If you're making heavy use of Arcane Orb, Hydras or Blizzard (or meteor lol), go with a 2H so you get the much larger base weapon damage. A 2H is also alot better with channeled spells than an equivalent DPS 1H - the slower cast speed on a 2H means you tick for higher damage at a slower rate, but it also means you use your AP up slower. Meaning you actually get more DPS over time since you don't run out of AP as fast compared to a 1H.

My Wizard Spell thoughts:
Arcane Orb is by far the best spell - Rune it with Obliteration and watch everything just blow up.

Blizzard is good to use as an AoE Snare (the chance to freeze rune is kinda useless since the snare is more than good enough. Go with with the lingering snare rune until you get the radius increase).

Ray of Frost can be Runed to only use 12AP per second - use a 2H with nice slow cast speeds and you can literally channel that forever without running out of AP meaning you don't even need to use a Signature Spell.

Disintegrate is OK, especially when indoors in tight corridors where you can just pew-pew straight through everything. Biggest downside is that it can't crit (channelled spells don't crit for some reason...), so Arcane Orb beats it for AoE damage and Ray of Frost beats it for single target damage. It has a really cool animation though :) Looks even cooler when you put Ray of Frost and Disintegrate and Left and Right mouse and alternate between them :D

The Hydras (especially the Venom one) are excellent spells to plop down and let it pew pew everything. I was running with a Demon Hunter and was surprised by how much better the Hydras are compared to the DH's turrets. Very handy if you need to kite since you can throw down a Hydra, then run like Benny Hill in circles around the mobs while the Hydra shoots everything.

Meteor is trash, don't bother with it. It becomes marginally useful in a group when a Barb or a Monk is grouping everything up, but the delay before the meteor comes down kills any effective use of it. Blizzard is far more useful. If you really want to use it, probably use it with the Meteor Storm rune since it it hits a larger area making it slightly easier to target...

Magic Weapon is extremely useful - run it with Force Weapon and you get a free 15% damage buff as well as an un-tooltip'd 15% attack speed buff (that could be a bug though). Familiar with Sparkflint is also effective as a self damage buff. Don't forget the Glass Cannon passive either - through nightmare at least the armour/resist debuff it gives you is a non-issue.

Diamond Skin is a must-have. Use it liberally.

Ice Armour is good value early on, but when you get Energy Armour you'll probably use that all the time. The -20AP is not an issue if you use the passive that gives you +20AP and +2AP/s. Plus you can Rune Energy Armour to give either 5% crit chance or remove the -20AP and give +20AP instead.

Mostly because the Demon Hunter has other options to combine with the turret so the turret's not expected to pew pew just by itself.

I'm just about to start nightmare. At the moment my favorite setup is:

General Combat
- Electrocute (Forked Lightning Rune) This jumps from mob to mob and regenerates AP with the Prodigy ability
- Disintegrate (Chaos Nexus Rune) Mow through everything with additional beams bouncing all over the place.

- Frost Nova (Cold Snap) Freeze everything near you, then when a mob dies he freezes more mobs.
- Ice Armor (Crystallize) Add additional armor with melee hits. Freezes mobs that hit you.
- Hydra (Arcane Rune) Drop it and kite and it goes: :2gunsfiring_v1:
- Explosive Blast (Unleashed) Hit those mobs that get too close.

Boss Combat
- Electrocute (As above)
- Arcane Missiles (Disruption) Fire and forget, high damage missiles

- Diamond Skin (Mirror Skin) Immune to damage during large attacks and bounce some damage back at the boss.
- Ice armor (As Above)
- Hydra (As Above)
- Mirror Image (No Rune) Distract them from yourself.

I've been using the Templar as my companion for the health boost he gives and the knockback ability.

They're fine... except Arcane Orb beats all imo. Chain Lightning with the right runes is useful as an AP boost, but I find I don't really need it. Magic Missile is a better option when you need to shoot'n'scoot and you're out of AP for Arcane Orbs.

I drop the Hydra in the middle of a pack for AoE, and then throw my own AoE over the top. I'm not really sure what else you'd want to combine lol.

The demon hunter can do more damage while kiting, basically. A lot of their attacks don't require them to stop to shoot, so sentry turret is a bit less godly in straight damage as it's a defensive skill. And then you combine it with other mobile firepower options and you're suddenly doing a stack of damage while running rings around people.

Another turret combo which I've found that you can do is cast Mark for Death on an enemy with the rune that gives 3 hatred back per attack, and use it in conjunction with the turret with the spitfire rune, which fires about four times a second... it's a machine gun.

So if in a boss fight you're regenerating say 20 hatred a second (turret + gear + base + bat) you can sit back and spam elemental arrow up to a 2.0 attack speed without ever running out of resources.
