it no longer is, the price as expected crashed rapidly within a week and then well... commodities are now gone from AH.

but during that week, we sure as hell milked the heck out of it...

selling gears? PFFFTTT... forget it, especially given how the AH works where you post the gear and then STUCK with it for 2 days taking up precious AH auction slot.

instead commodities (not just dyes) can be sold in AH in MASSIVE bulk, whole 1000 dyes just sold in a SINGLE auction slot, and furthermore can be taken down ANYTIME we want so we can fix the price, the only limitation being we need enough space in the stash for the massive number of commodity stack.

since few ppl back then had access to inferno, we farmed the hell out of the inferno dyes and sold them making silly profit margin before it crashed. Our stash were literally emptied out to make space for dyes back then.

Yea I've found selling gear on AH very very difficult indeed. They get stuck on there for 2 days, and at most, only 2 or 3 out of the 10 items get sold (or maybe I'm just not doing it right d'oh). Getting pretty sick of that... so yea, nice going Bronze!

do a search before hand of items with similar properites to what you want to sell

sell for less than that, at the end of the day, unless you paid for that item its going to make a profit.

I'm just starting to build a stockpile of unsold rares, around level 15 - 35. At this point I'm just selling them cheap with a buyout of around 5k to get rid of them. The game is dropping them faster than I can sell them and I figure they didn't cost me anything to find so any sale is still a profit.

There comes a time where the opportunity cost of a badly priced auction outweighs selling low level stuff.

If your 10 auction slots are all used up for low level stuff then it can be up to 2 days until you can sell that awesome item you just found. In that two days, the value of the item will depreciate, as more people access higher tiers of items.

I'm still trying to track the inflation/deflation of the economy. Currently it seems like people are acquiring more gold than they are spending/losing. Primarily because no one is sinking money into gems or crafting like Blizzard anticipated (also because the recipes for the higher tier gems are not dropping enough, so people can't sink money into it anyway)

I don't think the time of play has a particular impact on the game, there's just random weirdness with the servers.

My connection was fine last night, 210 all the way.

Then for a few hours I struggled with 300-400 with occasional (and quite scary sometimes) red spikes.

Then it magically went back down to the 220 region, at a time when more Americans should be playing.

And on the topic of economy, I'm noting more high quality stuff filter into the hardcore AH now. Few days ago the level 60 weapon choice was pretty poor. Now we're seeing legendaries and 800-900 DPS weapons. Still not approaching softcore selection, but people are slowly grinding through Inferno.

They moved the window forward two hours as well. Shouldn't start @ 8pm EST for you guys, should be 10pm now which has got to be better.

I thought this was the smartest thing said about the battle.net server maintenance and how it affects Australia:

Last week, the Australian servers came down from 6PM-12AM Australian EST. That's 6 hours of peak play time for Australia, while in the USA (more specifically California where the servers are hosted) it's 1am-7am maintenance, where you would assume there are very few people playing. That's true, there would be lower numbers playing at that time than normal, but there would also be nearly no people playing from 7am-4pm their time, and that would allow Australian gamers to keep their peak time, as the time for shutdown would be midnight-9am Sydney time.

I think you'd find there would be quite a few people playing during the day in U.S, probably equal to our peak times if not more. Their unemployment is through the roof

+1

Find something else to do on maintenance days.
