The multiplayer is dead?

One of the most visually spectacular shooters made, and still able to make some fully grown Gaming Rigs cry in pain.

Its almost impossible to play multiplayer now either

1) Theres no one on
2) Theres only one server full

Where has everyone gone?

not quite dead, but login issues and exploits have dealt an initial blow to the C2 MP player base.

However, there is hope in the guise of a new patch due next week that will provide players and admins greater options to improve the mp experience and here's the list of changes:

Cry-Adam aka shin wrote:A new Crysis 2 PC patch is coming next week and we'd like to give you a preview on some of the changes that will be included.

PC Changes:
•• Vote-kicking feature added.
•• Added a reserved slot system for server admins.
•• Further improvements to anti-cheat measures.
•• Objectives are returned if they end up in forbidden areas.
•• Fix for Nanosuit Modules that could not be leveled in some circumstances.
•• Fix for some instances of errors logging into multiplayer that would report "Could not connect to Gamespy".
•• Fix for unlock tokens failing to be awarded if a player quit a game in which they leveled up before the end of the round.
•• Fix for inconsistencies with weapon zooming.
•• Fix for outdated stats being saved when a client leaves mid-game.
•• Fixes to the Nanosuit Reboot option available at level 50.
•• Fixed several weapon exploits.
•• Fixed a rare issue where auto-aim, stealth kill and grab would not work on an AI.
•• Reduced memory footprint of sound.
•• Optimized full screen effects on some graphics cards.
•• Optimized SSAO on some graphics cards.

Please note this list is not yet finalized and there may be more changes added before release. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to your feedback on the game once the patch is out.

In August 2011 we will be launching a free CryENGINE SDK. If you want to use it for fun, like all our previous MOD SDKs it will be completely free of charge, to anyone who wants to play with it! You just register, download the SDK with a personalized license key and you're good to go!

Thanks for the info ^

I hope these announcements bring some of the people back, this game is very addictive for me probably because Ive never experienced any of the login issues, only minor stuff.

Oh and they are making many adjustments to the weapons:

Crysis 1 had it's issues also and it wasn't until the jan08 patch, some 2 months after launch, that the game started to develop a good player base.

There's stil an opportunity for Crytek to deliver a decent mp but they will have to work hard to fix the connection issues and exploits. Hopefully this patch will deliver.

cheers :)

One thing to remember, it only takes 4 people to get a game going. Grab a friend, chill out in the lobby for a few minutes and fiddle with your loadouts... you can be sure you're not the only one in the server browser looking for at least a +1 server :)

But yeah, the issues with multiplayer certainly have put a dent in player numbers but i think that once the new patch is out next week people should start coming back and checking out all the new and improved stuff, even to just try out the new weapon balance changes. I think the game is a hell of a lot of fun and i've been lucky (?) enough to experience pretty much no issues at all aside from the one or two server dropouts. It's a fun game so you should get some friends together when the patch is out next week and give it a flogging :D

Those balance changes look good, but unless the extra anti-cheat they say they're adding as an actual proper anti-cheat (their last attempt was one of the most pathetic anti-cheat systems ever - a client side check for if you were getting too many headshots. And it was defined in the completely unprotected config files...) the game will sink pretty quickly, especially with brink coming in a couple of weeks.

Well, the patch is out now.

Reports are that things *are* a bit better but still needs some work but I haven't been able to find a server with enough people to play yet.

Hop on people, lets try shoot each other and see how it is first hand
