Crysis 2 DRM info - not good news

One of the most visually spectacular shooters made, and still able to make some fully grown Gaming Rigs cry in pain.

Crysis 2 DRM info - not good news

Unread postby PalZer0 » 24 Mar 11, 10:58 am

The game uses Solidshield with a 5 machine activation limit (no activations credited back over time as far as I can tell).

This is also on the Steam version so those who wanted to buy it on Steam (at the US price hopefully) hoping to avoid the DRM on retail copies are going to be out of luck.

What's worse is that there's no disclosure on EA's website or the Steam store page that this is the case. I had to find this info from other people who have the game. My only hope is that there's disclosure on the retail packaging (it'll be in fine print on the back of the case if it is there).

**** you EA/Crytek.
DRM is like kids. The less you have, the better.

Solved...

[12:24pm] Leca: See: All/any TOS for most games
[12:24pm] Leca: then pick and choose what FUD you want to get upset about
[12:25pm] PALADiN: the main problem i have is lack of disclosure pre-release and publishers being inconsistent with their DRM choices *cough*ubisoft*cough*
[12:26pm] Leca: they have no reason, or sense of reasonability to disclose the information to anyone. you purchase a licence to play their title
[12:26pm] Leca: and as long as they have a support service or channel to communicate with, you will have access to that licence
[12:27pm] PALADiN: but everyone knows that EA's support is completely useless
[12:27pm] Leca: they can use a different drm method for every release if they like, it' doesn't change anything
[12:27pm] Leca: So, EA's support is the problem? Not DRM
[12:27pm] Leca: EA would love to hear that feedback
[12:29pm] PALADiN: yeah i kinda got off track there
