Not that unusual, you think, people often play at long distances for want of knowing better or having an alternative. But I also noticed that they were really quite bad, as if they were playing the game for the first time. In addition, there were constant join attempts from somebody called lanner4bsb:
My first thought was that this was some kind of lan party gone awry, either incompetently planned with the choice of a high ping server, or with not enough bandwidth to support that many users.
However, I eventually asked why there were so many high-ping players, and was told that they were Americans. The plot thickened when I discovered that they were all fans of:


Nick Carter of the backstreet boys (who is apparently currently in Australia), who had invited his fans to play with him.
