I was recently banned while playing on TF2 #4 (my name at the time was FWB 2.0). In communication with Mythor and Bicketybam, I have learned that the 3 month long ban was the result of (apparently) insulting use of the word "****".
While I am not trying to justify my use of such a word, I do recall using it in a purely affectionate vocalization of my dismay at my friends who play on the server, often when they kill me or dominate me. I realize that this language is inappropriate and can be construed as insulting, but all the times (that I can remember) that I used the word, I was using it in reference to one of my friends.
I'd like to formally apologize to anyone I have insulted, directly or indirectly, through the use of this word.
However I would like to show my disdain for the somewhat lackluster help I received in my ban appeal from the admins, Mythor and Bicketybam and also the terrible ban system that has been put in place. In a series of communications with Mythor, he seemed disinterested in what I had to say and ultimately proved no help.
Bicketybam at least approached things in a reasonable manner, listening to what I was saying and responding accordingly, but then communication dropped. I realize that it was barely 2 days ago, but I did clearly ask for any proof that I had been calling someone out as a ****, and not in the manner I had described above. I understand that being an admin can be strenuous, and having spoken to admins in the past, I have approached this issue in a rather calm manner and to make my points as clear as possible.
I personally do not disagree with the ban (not being able to seriously play tf2 could actually help me get more work done), but the length of the ban is entirely inappropriate given the context of the use of the word "****". By the Games On Net rules, a 1 Month Ban is standard for excessive swearing, something which I am guilty of. I also admit that sometimes I have bad days, where I can get frustrated and complain about other players, but never to my recollection have I ever called someone anything worse than "spawn camping prick" through chat.
I don't exactly know what others will think of this, only that my friends on GON have all agreed that the ban was rather unforeseen and the length excessive.
Its honestly quite a shame, since I only play tf2 nowadays for the community that exists on #4. I've made 15 great friends playing on it, and equally great memories. I do wish that some resolution or compromise can be made, through relevant discussion and understanding.
What I would like, right now though, is to see some form of proof that I have called someone a name or term that was bad enough for this ban to be warranted. Any help in this matter would be largely appreciated.
