Yeah it sucks :( I am runing vista 64bit and i can only play for 5 mins. I really hope that they patch it quick. I know it's still a beta but it's still not cool

Besides trying to figure out how to enter my name (and that finally worked), I haven't had a single issue with the game :D

Good to hear, I am going to try re downloading the whole thing to see if that fixes it. I seem to remember that fixed issues with DODS when it came out.

Have you tried adding

-refresh 60 -w 1024 -h 768

to your launch options? (substitute 1024 and 768 for your resolution of choice)

Had to allow an exception for - C:\program files\valve\steam\steamapps\<name>\team fortress 2\hl2.exe

No warnings to allow this through originally came up, but after I installed the latest Nvidia drivers I did get asked to allow 'Gameoverlayui.exe' through as well, which I think is related to HL2?

Gameoverlayui.exe is the Steam Community chat thingo - mixes in really well with TF2 IMO. Love it how it incorporates your SteamID profile into the game by showing your avatar and recording stats etc. - would like to see more games doing this kinda thing!

Mine runs flawlessly - not one single problem with it :)

Vista users, it's always worth trying to run it in Compatibility mode for XP, and make sure you are an admin / run the game with Admin privileges.

Haha what an eventful day though...sitting in the #Tf2 IRC channel, waiting for a proper update...constantly restarting Steam with the hope it might be ready..finally seeing the client download an update, get all excited then realise it was nothing...be told it was only a few hours off..seeing servers gradually pop up (with noone in them) as Valve sorts out their DS software...finally it says its ready after downloading an update, decrypting files, launching....DOESN'T LAUNCH. Everyone getting pissed off, waiting waiting, people telling you all this crazy stuff to do that has no effect at all...then finally, a new update, and it works! lol, was it worth the wait? Hard to say....

Woord,

So im running a Q6600, 2Gb ram, 8800 GTS
legit windows fully patched, latest drivers and all that
was getting this problem http://crus.heapslol.com/tf2prob.jpg

the solution im using for now is to use the following launch options which you can set by going properties of the game in the game browser / set launch options
-window -dxlevel 90 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0

after the game starts i can change it to full screen and go about my gaming :) maybe this will work for some of you guys as well, GL! :)

I'm pretty certain that Valve will be onto some of these errors pretty quickly... or at least I'd hope so.

Gonna try the new beta nvidia drivers.

I have this precise same issue.
There's no 'i' in 'team', but there's a 'me' if you re-arrange the letters.

Make sure you report any in game issues to Valve via the 'report bug' function in the main menu. We're playing the beta version, so lets help out ourselves and the other kiddies playing the released version eh?

I get "server not responding" for every server I try. Turned off my firewall, same problem...?

i've got vista ultimate 32bit on a 7950gx2 and tf2 runs perfectly, no issues what so ever. so yes it does support vista. And you wouldn't know if it supports dx10 anyway Revx, the 1900xt does NOT support dx10

But it plays well when working with good FPS.. 1920x1200 on a 8800GTS, Vista x64

I'd say about 95% of the servers I attempt to join I get in, skip the map tutorial, pick a side and then when I should be at the class selection screen I lose connection to the server. Instead of going to the class selection screen it goes to spectator mode and everyone freezes and I get CONNECTION_ISSUE in the top right corner. On the few servers I've actually been able to get past the character selection stage the game runs fine and I have no problem loading in between rounds and map changes or changing classes. It just takes me an hour to find a server I can actually play on.

On a probably unrelated note.. when I'm initially loading into a server it always gets stuck indefinitely at "parsing game data", but I just have to minimize briefly and then bring tf2 back up for it to work and finish loading. I've already found a ghetto solution to this 2nd problem though, so it's not really a concern.
