Your favourite Warfare map

Unread postby Freeborne » 26 Jun 12, 9:37 am

It's been a long time since I played Warfare on any custom maps, and as great as Takistan and Chernarus are, they get stale after a while.

Are there any maps people really want to play on. Fallujah was on #2, but personally I hated that map. Too small for air, laggy FPS, and everyone just camped around buildings making for a pretty boring style of play.

I tried Lingor, loved the map design, just didn't like the tropical environment (it's ARMA2, not Far Cry). Dingor on the other hand (desert version) is fantastic.

Isla Duala was fun, but I hated playing truck driver simulator. That got boring quick.

I'm very much for playing on a custom island. I enjoyed warfare on Duala, and Dingor looks like it could be fun.

Another possible island for consideration may be Sahrahni, from the CAA1 project http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=7006. It has several benefits going for it. Not the least of which is that it's not just another desert map and it plays well even on lower end machines.

duala definitely had its good and bad moments,

tho i think the only time it could have been considered a truck simulator was wen supply trucks were on.

the concrete trees sucked the most, but was a great ambushing map.

i would welcome duala back into the rotation, that was the only map we ever really gave good go.

i would also welcome any map that has lots of trees and is a big map

now that we only have 1 server adding a new map may mean it actually gets played!

i dont like the chances of 1 ever getting added tho :(

Obviously it would be one big mele over the town, but I'd love to play a game on the PMC map, even if just for a short game.

In theory the smaller maps sound like a lot of fun but in reality theyre usually ruined by little twats who just go straight for the bases. Zarga is usually a lot of fun when that doesnt happen though. Plenty of cqb city fighting where vehicles dont just rape everything.

Small maps could be great, but the economy and upgrade system doesn't scale well in Warfare with the really small maps.

People just lock-pick a resistance tank, and blow up the factories with ease, or shoot a couple of RPG's and blow up a factory. The enemy then has to wait an hour to earn enough supply to rebuild a Light Factory.

Duala was great when we first started playing it, but then I noticed majority of players started to just camp on hills with a TOW or Metis and every game seemed to turn into a race of who could race up to the mountain first and just ambush every vehicle, while someone else just pounded the enemy base with artillery (as bases could be found in less than 5 minutes).

Still, it had a great layout, which is why Dingor is pretty good, as it's very similar, with several connected islands and choke-points, in an Africa like setting.

Sahrani would be sweet i reckon. Most of all id just love to see some changes in the way warfare plays out instead of the same tactics and same vehicles used every time.

Yeah thats my biggest gripe with warfare. I love the inf and the non-attack helicopter play but the vehicle play really bores me. There always seems to be someone up on a mountain with a TOW missile ready to shoot you after ~20 mins of just driving to the destination.

The mobile missile launchers are very versatile.

I personally don't have the patience for putting TOW launchers and stuff on hills I prefer to drive around the map scanning for targets.

The Humvee TOW is no ware close to the ATGM with it's radar in the drivers seat plus it has much more ammo. Considering it takes 5 for each building you can usually take out the important stuff.

Basically once each side takes a town the already have tanks these days.

(rubs hands together for new warfare coming out shortly)

So for Sahrahni, does that mean we need to install CAA1?

Sahrani is over 1GB of downloads. Would like to play it, but looks like a biatch to find it and download it.

Correction: About 2GB, with few mirrors available, and project was discontinued over 2 years ago. :(
