Best mods for campaign

Now that I've got a set up decent enough to make playing arma 2 worthwhile, what are the best mods for playing through the campaign? I realise some mods conflict with each other so advice on that would be appreciated. I've already got ACE, Zeus AI for ace and JSRS, but missions involving convoys with AI are really starting to **** me. Are there any others that add some good effects etc?

blastcore effects makes splosions nice

as for ace, is that compatible with the campaign ?

also ive been playing arma since operation flashpoint was released and ive never played a single campaign. single missions / user created missions and mp is where its at :)

From what I remember, ball doesn't believe in single player :lol:

Anyway, for the campaign I'd reccomend SLX over ACE. ACE is designed for multiplayer and a lot of it won't work without another player. SLX is another realism adding mod that works, in my opinion, better in single player than ACE does. Still, major mods that so drastically change the AI's behaviour may break some missions. You will have to be a lot cleverer about how you tackle the enemy because they'll chew you up and spit you out if given the chance.

I remember with SLX for ArmAI I tried the water tower sniper side mission in the campaign. Never had trouble with it in vanilla. With SLX my first few shots with the Mk12 downed 3 enemy resulting in smoke and suppressing fire being directed at me while two teams bounded towards me and another tried to drag the downed men to cover. From an easy 5 minute mission, it turned into a 15 minute desperate bout for survival that took me 5 goes to complete.

I havn't tried the ported version of SLX on ArmAII yet, which apparently has a lot of fixes. I'll have a go this weekend and let you know how it goes.

GL4: Eye candy and minor game changes

Cheers fellas. I'll give all of them ago, especially the effects ones and slx...love me some eye candy. I didn't really see much of a difference with ace running, so that's probably why. And Fryz, i do remember that mission. With my POS laptop running at 20fps max i don't think i ever finished it, but you're right about the AI mods. I tried the first mission with ZEU AI in arrowhead only to watch my squad mates run away into the sunset :? I'll probably jump into a game of Warfare tonight, then eventually if i have to, try DayZ.
