Might want to start getting your guys used to the beta patch. 1.7.1 is going to require it for all players.

There's going to be a LOT more questions asked around here...

Anyone who complains that third person will be needed in arma 3 will need a serious slap across the face with a 2x4. :x

Can you, for example, lean out the drivers window to navigate around low obstacles yet?
that kind of thing is why 3rd person is needed in dayz, with all the **** on the road just waiting to break your toilet tissue wheels.

Ignore Goshawk, he's new to ARMA, and doesn't realise that BIS haven't been able to get 1st person view done properly despite working at it for 12 years, or that many of their developers often play in 3rd person and with cross-hairs and other noob settings enabled, nor has he paid close attention to the game footage so far that indicates limited visibility in cars still persist, even with driving assist cams.

Wow people really have that much trouble driving in first person?......

Helis are hard to land without 3rd person which is a good thing, if you're the one of very few people with a helicopter left in the world you're only going to be landing in a LZ that is safe and easy to land at.

3rd person is also abused a lot, eg Prone on the roof, look for survivors running around using eye of allah, stand up, shoot, go back prone and scan more ****. Using it to look around corners before you stick your head out, looking over fences, looking over walls.

With 1st person only everyone is disadvantaged the same way, noone can abuse it.

It would take him less than an hour to add in the script to disable 3rd person view for infantry. If he's as good as I expect from someone who takes on 99% of the coding for such a popular project, it should take him a few minutes.

He can also quite easily enforce particular difficulty settings, just like we do with Warfare parameters, or by requiring admins to run with standardised difficulty profiles.

I've found the biggest problem with just having 1st person is not flying helicopters, but driving some of the cars such as a S1203. With all the litter on the ground it can be tough trying to navigate through it in 1st person. Windscreens are easily cracked, reducing visibility even further, and if you end up crashing the cars they often blow up, and bye bye vehicle forever on that server.

Shoot the windows out. An advantage of ArmA is that apparently your guys eyes are made of glass and there are 0 insects in the Armaverse.

Worst vehicle for first person is the military offroad... damned tyre lol

I had a Huey on ANZ3 for a long time, but some muppets accidentally happened upon it [thats how they said they found it anyway], stole it, flew it for 2 days and I haven't seen it in the air since, presumably they've wrecked it.

I think the thing with vehicles is they should be used to move outside of a town, and then you go in on foot.

I truly believe Rocket (or whatever his name is) put the debris on the roads for this purpose.

Love the change to vet mode, now i can avoid other players without them tag-scanning me through cover!
Would also prefer no 3rd person mode due to obvious exploitation!

Except that pretty much all land vehicles are as slow or slower then bicycles off road.
why take a noisy vehicle which needs fuel to the outside of a town if a bike is stealthier?

the advantage of vehicles is on the road, travelling more quickly and being able to hot-drop into a town quickly for a raid and then getting out.

Cars:
- Room for multiple players (2+)
- Room for gear, weapons, extra ammo, medical supplies, backpacks
- Run over zombies
- Less vulnerable to bullets from jealous players wanting to steal what you got
- Faster
- Harder to damage
