dayz server broken.

your dayz server is broken, aside from randomly crashing its also not saving player data.

Thought this was fixed, but apparently it isn't. The other ANZ servers aren't having this problem.

nothing i can do aboot it

ive been saying it all day

infact the ONLY thing i can do is shut the server down till mebbe monday

Have you tried posting in the troubleshooting/support section of the DayZ forums, or emailing one of their people?

It looks like it isn't the only server, I was on another server and it crashed and caused me and a friend [we're both on teamspeak and both travelling together in-game] to loose hp and items and it also reset us back to where we were 5-10 mins earlier.

Coincidence that this starts happening after the server time is offset...?

no its to do with the hive system

if its stuffs up, or i restart the server its breaks
and i have no way to restart hive remotely

so no player info is saved

ive shut the server down for now cos of the number of complaints. but i dont know if thats the best thing to do

especially with patch suposedly on its way this weekend

Personally I would have left it up and running.

We have about 10-12 complaints on the forums vs 50 players non stop for almost 16 hours straight yesterday :shock: ie less than one complaint an hour for what is a HUGE usage for 1 server for that period.

I honestly can't think of a single game that has maintained those sort of player numbers for that amount of time in a day even with the little faults that are popping up here and there.

However it is your call to make, I am just offering another point of view :D

I'd say shutting it down until a solution is found would probably is the best thing, as you have done. People complain about things at the best of times, so can only imagine how bad people will moan when their player data isn't saved.

It won't kill people to go without for a few days, and it really isn't so bad playing on US server if the other Aus/NZ servers are full (I often play on a Seattle one). Patience all round and I'm sure things will turn out for the best in the long run.

Hey i'll take the blame if it means the mod maintains its popularity and additionally Games On Net grows because of it :P Hey I don't even own Arma yet I have been following everyone of these threads due to the popularity of this mod.

Sure the game is not perfect, it is an Alpha for crying out loud so we know bugs are going to happen, maybe just create one thread (maybe started by you Ball0fire) and title it "DayZ Bugs/Issues/Errors" or whatever you want to call it, and everytime someone starts a new thread complaining about a bug simply lock and point to that thread. Then you can simply update the OP with a list of bugs that pop up and point the dev's to the thread so they can keep an eye on it (or something like that).

Id have to agree with Chucky. Keeping it running is a good idea. Maybe change the MotD stating that the server isnt saving and if people complain point them to the MotD.

Besides the mod is still only in Alpha so these sort of thing are to be expected. If people can't hack it they dont have to play it.

I also agree, keep it up. I'm going to attempt to play it today for the first time, and I don't really mind about the bugs, I just want to play it.
