ArmA 2 with ATi crossfire

Unread postby Drjft » 1 Jul 10, 1:06 am

Hey guys,

Just wondering if ArmA 2 supports Dual AMD Cards? I have a HIS 5750 and was considering getting a second card so I can beef up some more performance. Anyone think it would do any difference? I currently run around 20FPS on 1920x1080, and about 40ish on 1280x720.

so long as you have an intel mobo with crossfire ability (i edited the titles cos its not sli :) )

you shold be able to go crossfire

one simple way to tell if you are gpu bottleneckd is to go in game check your fps
then look down at the ground at your feet, if the fps goes up then you are gpu limited if not its cpu/ ram (at least thats the general rule)

as for will it work? it should. arma2 has been out for long enuf now for ati (and nvidia for sli) to get it to work now

Well I used to run Arma1 with 2 x x1950 Pro's with no dramas, they got on to working on that towards the end of Arma 1's lifespan.

If you're only getting 20FPS with that card you must have the settings cranked pretty hard tho.

I thought I had some issues with Arma2 last night, I run 1900x1200 with the same ATi card 5870.

Tho I found I had the view distance set at 10,000 :) was getting about 25 fps.

Dropped back to 3,000 and was getting a nice constant 35-40.

OA on the other hand is showing the FPS increases I'd hoped, I'm expecting it will mature along the lines of Arma2 in due time :)

I think my settings are all on "Very High" or "High". I can't find a comfortable bunch to use. I've been playing Arrowhead with everything on "Normal" or "High" at 1280x720 and I am getting a solid 60FPS.

And sorry about calling it SLI. Was half asleep.

yeah you'll defiantly pull a better frame rate with crossfire, the scaling isnt great with arma though, i have a 4870x2 (2 GPU's in 1 card) and i my fps jumps from about 35 on one card to about 50 on both.

Cool. Disappointed though. In order for me to get XFire, I'd need to get a new MoBo, GPU and PSU. Expensive days are ahead haha.
