killing bases is nothing to be proud of lol, it's a bit of a desperate/oppotunist tactic.

Just a pointer for noobs (like me)

The colours of towns on the map =

GREEN TOWN is friendly.

RED TOWN is Opfor.

BLUE TOWN is (wait for it) RESISTANCE - i.e. dirty friggen peasants with rifles an T-34's that WILL shoot at you (or anyone really) on sight... DON'T BE FOOLED AS I WAS.

I assumed that blue meant friendly, I WAS WRONG. Though in military parlance blue does always = friendly it doesn't in warfare (this only applies to towns on the map, otherwise it actually does apply). lol. Be warned!

Technically OpFor = your enemy regardless of what side you're on.

if you want some fun in warfare...

Unread postby mincepie » 8 Apr 11, 7:25 am

I thought the first tip would be join bluefor and most do.Opfor has a distinct disadvantage equipment and gear wise not helped by the fact that their most potent air attack vehicle is always disabled by default (even though it will only appear late in a game where supply and monies must be earned). And I know the arguement about its spamming capacities so don't start. And this is only 1 point of anti-opfor  bias that the game portrays.Americans do believe they are the best of the best of the rest and I suppose thats why they always screw up in probably every conflict they have ever been in.But enough of my political satire.

The result of this would be all noobs on BLUFOR, all pros on OPFOR - and that is not good. I speaketh from experience after many shifts as BLUFOR Commander Noob Wrangler Extraordinaire.
ALL GUTS. NO GLORY.

Don't listen to them, BLUFOR have awesome assets.

Tunguska is only asset I'm envious of when playing as BLUFOR.

RPK's are pretty awesome with low (predicable) recoil. Best Insurgency weapon, followed by FAL, but if you're dropping MK17 to pick up one, you're crazy. RPK is short-range, no scope. If you prefer a LMG, then choose a BLUFOR LMG in your loadout and not a rifle. If you prefer RPK over MK48 though I'd say you're little crazy too. RPK's are pretty good short-medium range, but I prefer a rifle for my HE rounds.

Expert mode, RPK iron sights vs MK17/MK48 optics... no brainer.

Maybe someone will do full page review of weapon comparisons side by side with pro's/con's then everyone can make their own judgement.

Its not a which gun is better thing, its more of a gun that i feel comfortable using and can use and quickly get it aimed at a target etc etc, the OPFOR guns just handle alot better imo

edit: and if i want optics on an MG id just use the PKP.... but i can shoot perfectly fine at long range with open sights on a PKM

Exactly, people who play BluFor too much rely on their precious optics a lot. Try using the iron sighted weapons for a long time and you'll get comfortable using those with no problems.

PKM > any Blufor MG.

I'd say the only real advantage that Blu have is in their sniper rifles.

I'd prefer the RPK to any of blufor's SAW's because when you are even just crouched it very controllable and when prone it's absolutely rock steady. Again, i'd prefer the PKM/PKP over the blufor LMG's because they don't shoot so fast which = less wasted rounds. And everyone here knows how I feel about the AK107 vs everything else :P
