First Seven Servers for The Secret World Announced

The first seven server names for The Secret World, or rather the dimensions, have been announced by Ragnar Tørnquist himself, so you and your friends can decide where you're going to play as of Friday's early access launch. The server names are Cerberus, Daemon, Faerie, Grim, Huldra, Drac and Kobold.

Note that Drac and Kobold are French and German servers respectively, and Faerie is the roleplaying server. As Tørnquist says, there will be further servers added later, and the number of players per dimension is much higher than in other MMOs. Despite pleas to the community manager, there is no mention of the physical locations of the servers, so we can't advise of an Oceanic server at this time.

This is $79 on origin and $49 on their site......

Huldra has been named unofficial oceanic, but I'm not sure how the servers work compared to other games. Apparently everyone can still play with each other, except for the big pvp zone.

*edit in regards to next poster, it is $49 on official site, not $59.

EDIT: thanks for that, i was sure i pressed the 4 key but you know with the 5 key right next to it and me smooshing the keys, im suprised i can type anything legible lol

i wonder how they are going to justify that one, on the official site yes its $49 for basic game and EA are charging $80 not only that, there is no lisitng for the Upgrade packs that you buy when you buy the game. EA are depriving people of getting the Upgrade packs. how about GoN get one of their best investigative journo that wont take no for a answer and look into this.

I have the same dilemma. Not much time to decide, either! This game lends itself so well to RP, but the three faction pvp area will be at its best on the pvp dimension.

Oh btw, the name of the RP server has been changed to 'Arcadia'. Apparently people complained about playing on a server called Faerie.

So....after much thought we have settled on Huldra. We will also have the Dragon and Illuminati cabals on this dimension too so we can take advantage of the Umbrella corps/cabals when they get put into the game.

Sathias' find makes the decision much easier for me. Cerberus. If I play it long enough and want to play with people on another dimension, I still can. So, the cool server it is.

I'm just disappointed there isn't a server called fnord.

Can you actually freely switch, though? The article seems to imply that it's done through friend joining. What if you have no friends on the other servers yet?

For me it's safer to roll first on the RP server, and then find people to be friends with.

The more important question for me now is Templars or Illuminati. Was originally going Illuminati, but Templars have red uniforms, and a much less **** handler. Plus the whole "later gator" thing makes me want to stab something. So I ran into that uncomfortable problem of playing a faction and realizing I don't actually like it.

If you have no friends on the other servers why would you want to swap to those servers anyway?

If you want to play on "the RP server" then it would make sense to join that above any other, certainly. That way when ungrouped you'll be among all the other RP folks.
But outside of that, or needing to join a specific language server, it doesn't really matter too much where you end up. So it makes sense to pick a dimension with a name you like. Because having to tell people you play on the Faerie server isn't as cool as telling them you're on Cerberus!
