OK having just watched the "perfect" endings, going on from my second nitpick, it seems there is a way to end the game without the Normandy becoming stranded.

Very cool, will have to play again and make sure I get all the war assets I can! Or, is it something else that I'm missing?

The Normandy crash was the only thing Bioware retconned. Previously, it showed the ship breaking up midflight.

Hidden: show
In the new endings with good war assets, it weathers the storm and takes off at the end towards Earth.

with the indoctrination theory, the actual "bad" end to the game was quite brilliant but lacked meaty details.
the dlc explains nothing really, and actually debunks the theory.

this, to me, is just more proof they'll dlc the franchise into oblivion. if they just came out and admitted "you all didn't get the ending because it was too smart for you all", they'd have saved some face and earned respect for it.

If you thought about it and really looked at the 'evidence' you'd see that the Indoctrination Theory debunked itself. The Theory mostly played on coincidences and common tropes and masqueraded them as fact while completely ignoring the multitude of times it not only contradicted itself but known and long standing Mass Effect lore.

They were never going to 'prove' the indoctrination theory exactly because of that kind of ultimatum being issued by many of its supporters. "Accede to our fancanon or we'll never buy another product again."

When people say "Do this or I hate you" guess what the outcome is going to be... You shouldn't need to read How to Win Friends and Influence People to guess.

The indoc theory killed itself because of its raving lunatics and the many, many ultimatums they issued to Bioware.

I agree.
I played the three over the last couple of months and am close to finishing so look forward to the end.
A friend told me that the only difference was the colours but it was a lot more than that.
The devs should not need to hold your hand, they made an individual experience that was what you made of it.
I think games should be treated like books and not change the endings for a bunch of whining girls masquerading as fans or made the new endings only available as paid content say $50 as a whinger tax.

So can someone confirm to me whether ME3 is worth buying now or not?

No spoilers.

I think so, lots of good moments, bit of action. Just make sure you disengage brain for the last 10 minutes.

Also nothing about the game is as good as the first 2 games. Compared to the others the writing/story is sub-par, the combat mechanics are sub-par, the RPG portion of this RPG game was outright removed from both gameplay and story (no more neutral responses and say goodbye to hacking security doors etc) it's the easy weak link of the series to me. You'll still have fun certainly, it has some cool scenes and still is technically a 'good' game but while people only cite the last 10 minutes being bad I felt the entirety of the game was a large disappointment due mainly it being an RPG that forgot it's an RPG.

Well with one of my saves I did the new control ending and felt it was a much better ending than the original, it’s best for everyone to experience it themselves as the trolling and hyperbolic negativity has started already on certain forums and had to stop reading. Lots of positivity been sent to Biowares twitter feed though.

The main issue I have with these sorts of arguments is that they overlook that the developers are free to ignore things or act on them.

Developers choose whether to respond to feedback or not. Regardless of whether you feel people are whining, or entitled, or whatever, the choice to act is entirely in the devs hands, and gets made with regard to a whole heap of factors gamers are not privy to.

Ironically, it's because ME3 is the dev's game that they have the power to respond to feedback or not. If they choose to act on feedback, it's their call.
