Check Out the Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut Endings

Unread postby News Portal » 27 Jun 12, 2:08 pm

The Mass Effect 3 'Extended Cut' DLC was released by BioWare overnight, and is now available for all platforms. Clocking in at 1.9GB, the DLC adds additional scenes to each of the game's previous endings, as well as introducing an entirely new, fourth ending, so who even knows what is canon anymore and what is not. Videos have already hit the internet of the new endings, so we've embedded them for you below - spoiler warnings, naturally. Click here for the endings.

SPOLER: just incase you are reading the comments and haven't watched the videos =-P
Hidden: show
If you play through the game now, new cutscenes explain why your friends are back on the Normandy and why Joker was running from the energy wave (cause it needed an explanation -.-). However, apart from that its still the same story but with a bit more dignity shown to the end of an epic trilogy.

Thanks for that, hadn't actually watched the video/finished the updated version yet ^^

But for some reason, Origin *shudders* hasn't updated mine yet with the new patch. Anyone else having this issue?
And yes, I have right clicked it and checked for updates...

It's an addon.

Thank you soooo much! That explains a fair bit. Thought it may have been an automatic update....

It adds a couple more cinematics before the final chat sequence but otherwise, nothing of note =-).

Well, that was utterly underwhelming. They just can't bring themselves to admit that their original endings are terrible and just scrap them. Oh well, wasn't going to buy any DLC anyway, not after the way the third game ended, this doesn't change my mind.

Just in case...

They still missed the fact that the choices you made through the 3 games don't seem to matter in the end...its the same few choices. No matter what! But at least they did something.

Just watched Red ending and while "better" it's still a sh!t ending. I kinda like how they retconned some of the original ending such as them getting marooned on the planet, that whole thing was completely pointless now and also makes that final scene with the kid and old man completely pointless, random, and without context. Also Mass relays no longer explode now roflcopters. Kinda shows how incompetent the ME3 writers were.

actually the choices for big plot points are shown via still images in the epilogue...

so who's guessing the cannon will end up as Control (no jokes about assuming Control) as it gives the Universe the best outcome without the stupid everything has circuits on the surface - come one why would EDI, The Geth and the Reapers have the circuits on the surface if anything they should have flesh.

I'm not at all invested in the series, have never finished a single one of them. But I still think those endings are terrible.

The only one that I think is half decent is the "refusal" ending. My opinion. Might seem like a screw you to a lot of people. But it's the only half good one IMO.

I found that if you talked to the Catalyst and asked as many questions as they would let you (why only 1 question per section Bioware - maybe I wanted to ask just a litl ebit more) it covered pretty much all plot holes that had been discussed by the Retake movement except for Indoctrination - at least they explained who the Catalyst was (gestalt of the Reapers and their creator VI)
