Infantry is what the game works best at (even then, suppression is still beyond stupid), since they've unbalanced the vehicles with every patch to the point at which they are now paper.

64 players on those CQ maps is terrible though, 32 at the absolute max but I found 24 is a much more fitting number.

I've had a fair bit of fun on some 48 player CQ servers, but they work for me personally as just when I'm getting sick of it, they switch to a rush or normal conquest map, which I like 48+ people on.

Should have chosen a good game

You understood it without proper English so I can only take that as a counter troll. Which might I say spelling/grammar nazi'ing is the lowest form of trolling.

32 player CQ is my sweet spot. Never instant vehicle maps, those annoy the **** out of me. I love the infantry play on Seine Crossing, that's probably my favorite map.

There used to be a 32 player votemap server, "ANZ something something." It was boss. All original + b2k maps, you could stack the vote with your squad mates and keep the rest from trying to vote metro. (C'mon really? There are a million 24/7 metro servers...)

Anyone know of any server that's still operating under a similar config? (This one disappeared when CC came out.)

Which might I say spelling/grammar nazi'ing is the lowest form of trolling.

But essential. Without grammar trolling the correct use of there, their and they're will be lost to the ages.

silky-smooth iiNet hardware

Implying the Internode hardware wasn't?

Quite frankly my experience as a 10 yr node customer has gone down hill recently. I moved to naked at great bloody confusion from the company - which treated it as a new customer account, but then substituted it at the last moment. Going naked cost me 1mb downstream and .2kb upstream as well for no reason the tech support could explain.

And then they went and left both accounts enabled causing a major billing headache.

Given that I came to node after a god awful experience with iiNet I draw my own conclusions. Luckily I am moving in a couple of months so I will be sure to weight the alternatives carefully.

Node has never been the cheapest, but I though they were the best :(

Except that it wasn't an apostrophe Nazi in this case.

It was rubber-banding central on the BC2 servers. GameArena was the same (if not worse), 3FL and Hypernia were fine. We also had tonnes of issues with Arma2 servers. Might've changed since then though :)

And tisk, tisk, Jambo :P

Actually it is pretty simple - when you switch to naked quite often the Telstra tech will switch you to another copper pair, which to us makes no sense. An unfortunate side effect of this Telstra process is you have a chance of getting a worse pair, in your case this happened. Pretty difficult to convince Telstra there is a problem too especially if your service is still stable.

(Gah I don't want to do ADSL troubleshooting again!)

The hardware is spread over many datacentres, given we have hardware in 4 states.

Some of the hardware is in this one: http://www.computerworld.com.au/slidesh ... ta_centre/

The same can be said about BF3, not as bad as BC2 but none are as smooth as the Hypernia servers.

Super frustrated with the current state of BF3 server trends. All these 1000 ticket servers, 24/7 uber quick leveling maps. 1000 tickets? Give me 15-30 minute rounds (~500 tickets), no more, give me a variety of maps. And most of all give me hardcore.

I know these servers exist, but no bugger wants to play on them :(, they're all piss farting around on their Metro 24/7 servers.

Seems like it was easier to find a good server on BC2.

And there's your answer.

3FL has 80 BF3 servers, so we have more than enough to cover every variety of game. I've had a bunch of Hardcore, infantry only servers running - but no one ever plays in them.

The servers that end up being popular are the Vehicle Fever, Flight School and 24/7 Single Map servers (such as Damavand Rush or Strike at Karkand).

If you have a specific request for a server, like some weird super-hardcore-die-from-flying-dust-particles server, let me know. I'm happy to set it up, but I'll be surprised if it ever fills up with players.

This is without a doubt, the best thing I've seen on GON. We can close the board now
