however Tom Clanceys Ghost Recon is now 49.99 USD on steam. was looking the other day and I recall it being more expensive (perhaps im wrong). That game WOULD have been $89.99 USD on steam a few weeks ago.

If that's what Ubisoft is doing.. sooo buying AC3 on Steam

I hate having to run Steam + Origin and check if people are on which game. having it all via steam (or a neutrul "common" client) would be great. Reminds me of the old ICQ\MSN\AIM\IRC problems -> then Trillian came out and combined them all into a single list.

I used to use Trillian myself back in the day. You should have a look at Raptr, it can be used to chat to people on Steam, Xbox Live, Playstation, Xfire, etc, and has achievement and stats tracking. Usually you can see what people on your friends list are playing as well. No Origin though.

Vote with your wallet and import/use overseas digital download sites. It's the only way we will ever get out of this price stranglehold.

RSOblivion wrote:Just like to mention GOG is awesome. DRM free products at reasonable prices (though even there some have a premium for certain games  ). The version of The Witcher 2 though is undoubtedly the best. Amusingly this version was also very low on the pirate list. It was the DRM'd version that was pirated

So since CDPROJEKT is so awesome.. why is the Witcher 2 $10 more for us in Aus than those in the states.. It's no longer published on Steam by Namco Bandai - it's published by CDPROJEKT..

I also found their 'no DRM, but oh we'll sue downloaders in court despite not being able to prove they downloaded it' phase very disingenuous.

Correct me if I am wrong but I recall CDProject saying they will give you $10 credit as they could not do anything about the price due to current publisher deals.

As to not being on Steam, there is no DRM in The Witcher 2 and Steam is a form of DRM, so why does not being sold on Steam an issue?

Yes they did initiate a 'you have pirated this we want $XX' and there was a large backlash and they backed down, apologised for their mistake and promised not to do it again. So kudos to CDProject in not pigheadedly standing their ground.

As they say, he/she who has done no wrong can throw the 1st stone i.e. they have made mistakes along the way but they corrected those and still continue to be as you put it "so very awesome"
