DayZ Central Database Down Until Further Notice Due to Hackers

In another case of hackers ruining everything, DayZ's senior developer Dean 'Rocket' Hall has announced that the central database will be going down until further notice. "Due to sustained and constant hacking, the central database is being dropped until further notice," reads the announcement. "You will not be able to connect". We'll keep you posted with further updates as and when we have them.

I'd actually like to know what the "hack" was... If they are calling a DOS a hack..I'm going to laugh.

If the hack was done via the actual game (EG code injection etc. Which that appears to be the case since they bricked peoples ARMA keys) then they have shoddy security.

Yeah the thing that makes arma a great game (its modability) is also its greatest flaw, cos its fairly easy to make hack / scripts for the game.

The good thing aboot battleye is if we get your guid and ban yah from server thats it, no way round it,gota get another copy and reinstall arma.

And with the rcon tools i use it keeps a database of everyone that joins

There was a video which showed a guy ontop of a tower, brought up a command list, selected a item and people blew up.

I assumed he was talking about some kind of DOS attack but it appears he might have meant "cheaters" in this case rather than someone actually attacking their servers.
