Ubisoft Releases Detailed Walkthrough of Assassin's Creed III

Unread postby News Portal » 14 Jun 12, 12:16 pm

Ubisoft have released a seven-minute video, narrated by Creative Director Alexander Hutchinson, that shows off the key features of Assassin's Creed III. The tree movement in particular is beautiful, and is shown to be a key part of the game's mechanics. Keep an eye right here on GON for our AC3 thoughts out of this year's E3 expo. It does look rather snazzy, if potentially a bit repetitive.

That said, the clip also makes you wonder if the devs have ever climbed a tree before. Apparently trees are made of something other than wood in AssCreed-land - no flex, hard as steel... and snow only exists to creates pretty little puffs. Not slippery at all. :)

The only way AC can ever go wrong as a franchise is if/when they can't keep building the backstory. As soon as they start stringing it out ala X-Files and LOST, they'll lose me.

Until then, I'm absolutely invested in playing this series to keep unravelling what is, for me, one of the greatest adventure-mystery stories in modern gaming.

This is the worry for AC4. AC3 will finish the Desmond storyline (supposedly) so where they go from there both in the present and in the past is the big question.

Btw, The Vita Assassin's Creed called Liberation finally gives us a female assassin. :P Gameplay looked so-so however in the trailer I saw.
