HA! This is one game I won't be touching until I read about 5 decent reviews on it. The original Homefront was awful.

The term "CoD clone" gets thrown around quite a bit, but when watching videos of Homefront, to me, it looked LITERALLY like it was a Call of Duty game. When I played the multiplayer free-weekend there were some differences that made it more worthwhile, imo, than CoD multiplayer, but ikt played EXACTLY the same as Call of Duty, right down to "Press F to pick up [picture of weapon]".

It was SO close to Call of Duty that it could have been a spin-off or even called Modern Warfare 3.

In conjunction to that, Crysis 2's multiplayer, and some aspects of its single player, was a lot LIKE Call of Duty, in that gameplay was fast paced, there wasn't a HUGE amount of room for creativity and in some other aspects it played in a SIMILAR way to Call of Duty in terms of general gameplay.

What I'm saying is that neither of these games had their own identity and I can't see this being anything more than a CoD-like game. If I want CoD I'd play CoD. If I want Crysis I'll play Crysis 1.

Some people are just easily impressed and/or are completely happy with mediocrity.

Some people (hint: neither of you, by the looks of it ;)) are happy for people to come to their own conclusions without labelling them in some form. ;)

Agreed. But there was meant to be more to it...

What I remember as being the "hook" that got me excited was the ability to purchase weapons, drones and vehicles in game as you go. What I thought we would be playing is a game where points/cash was built up per life and that, if your team was getting mowed down by a chopper and you had managed to survive long enough to take out a bunch of people and earn some cash, you could whip into the quick menu, purchase a rocket launcher and take out that damned chopper. Then, when the situation called for it, you could buy a tank, buy a shotgun, use a drone...etc. So it was a game that rewarded effective players with more tactical options.

Either I mistook this promise, or Kaos/THQ misled me, but that's the sort of epicness I was expecting. Instead, we got - from memory - two slots to put pre-selected purchasing choices that had to be decided prior to the game commencing. The concept sounded great but in reality, it was watered down so much as to almost negate the "feature" at all.
