Seems strange to take the Star Wars universe, with all its amazing locales, races etc and then limit it all down to a single planet. Not even that - but a single level of a single planet. Strange...

It's sad to see Lucasarts are so heavily dedicated to console games now. They made some of the best PC games ever, across a wide range of genres. I guess this could be a good game...The Force Unleashed had a lot going for it but was let down by some goofy controls and annoying boss fights etc. But the story was good, the art design was excellent, music etc...It's like they had all the ingredients nailed, except the actual part that makes a game fun...

Ah, fair call. must have been looking at outdated figures. :)

Don't get me wrong, I love Minecraft - I just fail to see why everything has to emulate it. It is just one game/genre amongst many.

The point I was trying to make was that Minecraft wasn't a AAA title, it didn't have one of the most popular IP's ever conceived to drive its sales and it didn't have shiny graphics or cut scenes, a decent budget Star Wars game should DESTROY something like that. Unfortunately they usually just rely on the IP to sell the games.

You know, I think Dark Forces 2 was the last star wars game I played!
Wait, no it was battlefront 2.
Yeah that was cool. Battlefield for star wars.
Oh and that AoE one. Saw someone playing that, it looked cool.

Having a game set on one planet only on one level isn't so bad though. You could do a lot with the setting of Coruscant and still have a really cool story and interesting gameplay.
When you have a story-universe that is so big you can pretty much pick any part of it and make a story there. And that can be interesting because then it focuses just on that area and develops it, showing you some interesting things.
Hopefully.

Man, another proper Space Flight Sim like X-wing and TiE Fighter would have been awesome D:

I'm not sure we need yet another third person shooter game... Though an 'on rails' game in the spirit of the old Rebel Assault games might be a nice throwback.

Just imagine what a spacesim game with today's tech would be. You'd probably get Star Wars ep3 scale battles with spaceships that had detailed and dynamic destruction to them, I want so bad.

I know I keep plugging this site everytime an X-wing game is mentioned but X-wing Alliance Upgrade is a community project which replaces the in-game textures with high-res textures. They've also replaced the Super Star Destroyer with a high detail, size-accurate one.

The **** is trying to install X-wing Alliance on a 64-bit Windows.

I heard that the change in the Super Star Destroyer screws up levels or something because of the size difference.
