Rumour: Splinter Cell: Blacklist to be Announced at E3

Unread postby News Portal » 1 Jun 12, 9:57 am

A direct sequel to Splinter Cell: Conviction, titled Splinter Cell: Blacklist, is rumoured to be up for reveal at this year's E3. Although yet to be officially confirmed by Ubisoft, the existence of the next title in the franchise has been known ever since Jade Raymond offhandedly mentioned it would be developed entirely at the new Ubisoft Toronto studio. Blacklist is said to make a return to Sam's original appearance, with no grey hair, full body suit, and night goggles, and is aiming for a January 2013 release.

Yeah, I'm confused by that as well. The idea of Sam Fisher dying his hair is pretty funny to me though, so let's hope they go with that!

Liked the older Fisher too. Getting old and can still kick arse!

To me Fisher has always been an alternative version of perhaps Tom Clancy's best characters, John Kelly (aka Mr Clark):

When reading the books I imagine John Kelly having Michael Ironside's voice :) .
No PC anymore, only an XBOX 360.
Want my PC Fallout 3 saves on my XBOX. Anyone know how?
Limbo is fantastic - get it.
When is Amnesia: The Dark Descent coming to XBOX Live Arcade?

I read a few chapters of one of those books on the train once [Step dad had it]
Wasn't bad but I didn't get very far into it just the part when they were in London I think and some terrorists had attempted to attack some royal cars and John stopped them.

I hope they go back to the original roots of Splinter Cell. Was in of all time favourites, until conviction came with it's fast pace Jason Bourne world.

Rainbow Six is an alright read (yes, the one that inspired the game series). Not the best, but alright. I'm going to have to read Hunt For Red October at some point, apparently its a classic.

I must say that I preffered the character of the older Sam Fisher, but prefered the style of the earlier games. Chaos Theory I think was where Spinter Cell reached it's highest point. The PS2/XBox Double Agent was ok and built on the Chaos Theory style, but I don't know it just didn't seem quite as good. I liked it better when the mark of a good player was the ability to go through a whole mission without so much as touching a single person, not how quickly you can kill everyone in the room.

Haven't read Hunt for Red October or Red Storm Rising. Started at Patriot Games and am up to Bear and the Dragon. I've been advised to steer well clear of Teeth of the Tiger and other newer Clancy books. Favourite Clancy book so far is Without Remorse. Its the back story of John Kelly and its great.

Chaos Theory is still my favourite game so far :) . The soundtrack for the game was fantastic and really set the scene for each mission. Conviction was fun to play because you could feel bad-arse (and the makers did well in that regard) but Chaos Theory was just excellent all round.

If it brings back the feeling of the first 3 Splinter Cell games, I'll give it a go.
