First that original trailer months back with 47 storming a mansion guns blazing and now this... I must be having a memory lapse because I could have sworn I remember Hitman being a stealth game about being inconspicuous, blending in and killing no-one but your intended target... silly me

Well it doesn't exactly point the series in a positive direction from the viewpoint of the fans does it. It's changing it from being what they want (A more sophisticated stealth game) into what looks like a cheesy action game, something the games industry is producing too many of already.

I have to admit though, that trailer was hot. Is it wrong to be semi-aroused by animated nuns getting their throats cut?

But the problem is that Hitman is not a game that was designed to suit various playstyles or a wide audience. It was/is a tactical stealth game that relied on careful planning and execution to succeed. This trailer just goes makes the same mistakes Splinter Cell did, dumbing it down to the same path as every other shooter.

That trailer was just complete garbage in any sense of the word. As much as I love a good action CG, the brutal killing of women isn't something that gets me going frankly.

Oh well I guess the Hitman days of 47 wandering into a mansion dressed as a waiter and poisoning the food are over and the days of 47 driving a flaming truck through a wall, leaping out ripping off his tux to show off his new gimp suit with dual dual guns (uzi's on top of uzi's) blazing while he screams profanity.. is in.



It's not quite the 47 I have enjoyed up to this point and if the game is splinter cell with a nice suit I'll be giving it a miss - and it will sell it's arse off on console.

This clip is advertising. When you market a game to be full of crazy explosions, action and sexy chicks what kind of market do you think they are targeting with their game? While this isn't definitive that they've totally screwed over the fans, it doesn't look good for those who wanted a more serious game.

what they are advertising, would indicate what they are aiming at with the crowd...

which is indicative in itself of what the game's design is likely to be targeted towards.

and for the old fans of Hitman, well... this kinda hit all sorts of wrong target.

i am still cautiously optimistic, but well.. this trailer isn't exactly helping dispel the concern that old Hitman fans have on where exactly they are taking the series towards.

IIRC weren't there a few bits in the other games, fairly similar to this, where he was attacked by a hit squad and had to defend with little stealth. Not nuns, but still.

2nd game I think you get betrayed and a bunch of guys break into your hideout. Probably more like the police scene in the gameplay trailer.

Also at the end of the last game if you survive the cremation you have little choice but a shootout.

There was also that bit in the last game where you got attacked by the assassin in lingerie. It's been a while, my memory may be a little hazy.

Some of the precedence is there. Doesn't mean the entire game will be like this, I'm sure there's still plenty of sneaking around and taking out just the target bits.

As for the trailer, anybody else notice that he might be trying to remove his barcode?

The police raid 47's hideout in several occasions of the game series, each time however it was actually more practical to avoid them and silently escape since engaging them naturally brings more cops into the building and quickly saturates all the routes you can take which forces you to fight more still.

the shootout that were unavoidable in some scenes lasted like what? 5 minutes out of the entire game?

what we're hoping is that it's still possible to play the game as 'silent assassin' of the previous titles, not just as a side after thought where 'oh yeah here... we'll give you a few missions where you have to go silent or can choose to be silent'

Hmm, looking though the trailers of the past games it shows him being rather unsubtle on many occasions. Doesn't mean the games turned out like that.

Out of everything the gameplay trailer is probably more reliable than the CGI trailers.
