Also, from the small amount of servers bandits get known quite quickly and are generally hunted down by the few players who enjoy hunting and tracking them.
Hah.
I haven't died to a player since I stopped letting them decide to take the first shot.
Before that I'd died to 1 "bandit" and 3 "survivors".
I use 3 weapons, depending on ammo supply, my main is a M4A3 CCO SD, secondary is an M24 and my all purpose backup is an M249 SAW.
Good luck getting my name in the first place, much less 'hunting me down'.
Aside from that My group works together, we usually have 2-3 people on overwatch with M24s and DMRs and 1-3 others on scavenge duty.
We've got 4 pairs of NVG between us so far so night time is awesome.
LOVE me that Enfield, if it was just a teensy bit quieter it would be the best weapon in the game
Terrible gun because of its noise.
Winchester is just as accurate, higher damage, more rounds per reload and still one of the quietest non-suppressed main weapons if not the quietest.
Much better weapons are not that hard to get, even if ammo for a specific weapon is in short supply.
I might be [currently] a bit low on STANAG SD [2 clips] and M24 [2 clips] but I've got just short of 2500 rounds in my M249 and that is still quieter then the enfield plus I get 100 rounds per inventory slot and 200 rounds between reloads.
Today, between 4 of us, we killed 20+ people out in the wilderness™ [2 of us as snipers killed 10+ while overwatching for the others].
maybe 15 of those people wouldn't have shot at us? but then we're not going to wait and find out which 5 will.
1 dude we killed was pretending to be injured and trying to get people to help him, only to shoot them when they did, lucky we're not the type to fall for that and shot him first.
and yes we saw him kill someone else first, so in this case we saved atleast one of our group the trouble of running back north and getting regeared.
Now remember that us shooting people on site wouldn't be a problem, for them, if they took the time to scout out the places they're going, instead of running somewhere and hoping its safe.
Stay away from cities and airfields and army bases and if you have to go to one then take 5-10 mins to scout it out, watching for any activity.
Don't just run to one of the northern airfields with your makrov out hoping no one sees you.
there will be people there, there almost always is, and they have far better equipment then you so if you aren't careful they are going to kill you and then get back to doing whatever it was they went there to do.
