Nothing makes me groan with contempt like product placement in movies (you know, like the closeup of the car/mobile phone). No different in games, lame is lame.

Thank god I'm in the 10%, I don't give a **** about gaming enough to require me to buy a console that has advertisements.

I don't watch TV anymore unless it's sport because of advertisements, I pay $90 a month for foxtel and I watch maybe an hour a day on sport with it and that's all.

I don't even watch the news, 99% of the time I find out about world disasters at gym or something, I do not like adverts and I boycott anything that has them unless it's a live event.

All my TV shows etc either come from online or video stores so I don't have to put up with an advertisement.

I'm glad you left at least 1% from your statistics for me. :P

He says, with advertising in his sig :P

Just because they patent it doesn't necessarily mean they'll use it. They are just as likely to license it and get some money that way.

Given it is Sony, it would be surprising if they didn't put a bit more advertising in their games.

Well if it makes games free just to watch ads then yeah i might be all for it, lol.

Although i for one dont play enough games to warrant my attention to the game, on the plus side when an ad is about to pop up it allows you to go for a leek, make a cuppa, pour another jimmy.

Lol, i see it as ads in games will make the stereo typical gamer fitter because they will leave their chair every half hr and get those legs moving, i think song are doing it for the health of their consumers, lol.

If by buy it you mean get a copy for $<10 then maybe, it's the only reason I've got BF3 and MW3 (even then, at that price MW3 is a rip off) otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with them.

I've been waiting for hardcore product placement in games for years, there's been smatterings but nobody ever went full retard with it yet, i can't wait for the joocy backlash when a game company slumps to the level that "TUF:Brazil" did this season.

There's no reason they couldn't do it in any game and use decals, billboards, etc.

Absolutely agree. I thought 2142's advertising implementation was fantastic and actually increased the quality of the game with dynamically changing assets. Each time you went into the map, the billboards changed around. It was great!

... yet the masses screamed tears of bloody murder simply because it was "advertising". Never mind the details, that's a word i don't like, therefore i'm going to jump up and down like an ignorant spastic.

As for this Sony ordeal... LMFAO.

They also have the patent on 'an arrow guiding you where to go'.

According to cracked anyway, but I wish I was joking; technology patents are absolutely absurd, people hold patents for all the weirdest **** and lawsuits are flung behind the scenes all over the place.

Personally I think it should be barebones like music is for copyright, where you can only protect your melody and lyrics, whilst varying both of them is fair game even if you use the exact same chords.
