Torchlight II Beta Weekend Is On Now!

Unread postby News Portal » 19 May 12, 10:25 am

A stress test is running for the servers of Torchlight II this weekend, running from 2AM this morning until 2AM on Wednesday morning. Runic are still sending out invites to join in the beta, so if you haven't already, make sure you sign up for your chance to play this weekend. The developers say that the beta period will end shortly after the stress test, so they can put the last finishing touches on the game and get it shipped out.

Even with D3 I'm still really keen to play it this weekend, hopefully I can nag a key. Already have the game pre-ordered :)

I got a key for this last weekend. Ran through once, it's fairly short. It's fun, very much like the first. Would rather play Diablo though.

I still like the old GUI more... it was easier to read the life/mana bars for both you and your pet. Camera also zooms out more and the gameplay is faster.

In saying that, I just had a quick bash as the beserker with some randoms and really enjoyed it. Item drops are still plentiful and the stash is nice and roomy (unlike Diablo 3... why the F do we have to pay to get more space?).

Looking forward to giving the Engineer a better try (now that I have some stuff waiting in the shared stash) as well as the other two classes.

It was good to see a respec function put in as well. The skills in Torchlight aren't as distinct as Diablo so some trial and error is a must.

Will definitely be getting this for my travel laptop since it can't run Diablo 3 for two reasons: weak graphics chipset and I won't have always on internet.

The beta has a nasty bug where the sound drops out for me... music remains but normal sound isn't there.

Also a fair few bugs with the match making screen... sometimes it just bypasses the options for when I create a game.

Hopefully they'll iron these out before release.

No, you need to get the files through the TL2 updater (straight from Runic).

Quite enjoyed the hour I played last night, I made a mostly succesful 'warrior monk' (melee Embermage). Sadly I don't think it will work too well without no (at least visisble on the tree) armour spells.

Also, respec is only available up to Level 10, but still very nice to have!

The game itself (file size) is not very big.
It downloads quite quickly.

Played it abit this morning, very cool.
Has really kept all the cool stuff from Torchlight with the addition of multiplayer.

Everything is very smooth and seamless. Feels very polished.
Certainly a keeper, especially for the price tag.
