kidding! i found a town after that - hid in a shed while some survivors ran past throwing flares at zombies - listened to them die in a great big undead gang rape. awesome.

Guess you haven't played in true darkness then.

Try playing with no moon in a forest when it's raining.

No matter how much you change your brigtness/gamma it's going to be pitch black.

The only way you could see was to have flares or chemlights..


I never had any of the above so i navigated the darkness by gun muzzle flash, but that didn't last too long :P

The more people are playing, the more pissed they're starting to get. I keep hearing "WTF? ALL I DID WAS CROUCH UP AND 5 ZOMBIES RAN AT ME!" or "WTF? ATTACKED ME THROUGH A WALL?" Or "WTF? I WAS CRAWLING AND IT AUTO STOOD ME UP AND THE ZOMBIES KILLED ME!"

The premise of this mod is unreal, and keeping me involved, But holy god damn this game brings out how buggy and clunky Arma 2 truly is. "I've loved and have had Arma since the old days" But even I understand just how bad the game is bug wise, And AI wise.

Even though it's a good idea of a mod and it's popular now, Unless some serious tweaking happens I'm sure it'll die off sooner rather than later.

Which blows, Because I love it. I just don't like a few things.

1. The server connecting issues
2. The Movement bugs that cause the lame AI zombies to attack
3. The fact 80% of towns have 100% of there buildings closed / locked with no loot... "Literally searched for 3 hours, found 4 towns, and NONE of them had any open houses with ANY loot"
4. No zombies in the forrests, I can run for hours in there, Only time you'll see zombies are around towns which is kind of stupid since they're too retarded to spot you from 5cm away laying down, But can stay around a town constantly but not the woods?


They need to edit the houses so 90% of every house is open, And then have the random chance of finding stuff.. the way it is now, Just look for a barn, if there's no barn don't even bother going into a town, it's full of zombies with nothing to gain from the places.

I don't like the new loot spawn mechanics, used to be that you could enter a deserted area and find loot, now you have to do a lap of the spawns and run away for a bit, really takes the fun out of it.

Remember that this in an ALPHA release. It isn't even beta. Expect bugs and issues. Some are ArmA related. Others aren't exactly.

Expect some problems, learn to work around them. If you don't like it that much.. Stop playing and wait till a more stable release. At least you'll free up some server slots that way so I can play more.

I think you've missed the part where most of those problems have come from the base game, not the mod.

and they've been there for years unfixed.

the mod itself, other then perhaps some updating/saving stats works mostly fine.

bugs aside, the biggest complaint I have in game atm is how your character moves, its not fluid [like in the BF series for example].
Even just changing active weapon requires you to stop moving.
Moving around objects, particularly while crouched and even worse when prone, is terrible.

why can't I shoot directly down from the high place I'm at?

how hard is it to make a game so that ladders and stairs don't kill you 50% of the time?


I'm sure as the mod progresses it'll bulk up on content, like replacing standard buildings with enterable buildings .etc


Ad far as a feature in the mod I'd like to see?

a trader would be awesome.
So maybe I could trade in 100 CZ550 rounds for 10 rounds of M24 or something.
he obviously wouldn't trade with bandits, so maybe a good reason to keep your humanity up.

Just because I'm complaining that the game was released or hit it's popularity peak way too early doesn't mean I'm not enjoying it.

What causes this bug ?

I've logged out 3 times in 3 days on the GON servers, And EVERY TIME I've gone back in there, it's rolled back up to an HOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For instance, earlier today while a mate wanted to see it, we played for like 2 hours I got a lot of food, water, And finally found a rifle... I log back in just now, And I've lost a **** HOUR! of looting, I'm so far back it's as if the game didn't save once.....

Now I finally log in, the net's working fine and has been all day, 2 minutes in and I start timing out ? "No messaged received for blah blah" ?

I understand the timing out part, Alpha's etc they need to upgrade there servers, But WTF kind of excuse would anyone have that the game doesn't save that much and I'm forever redoing everything I did before I logout?

That's pissed me off so much, All that time down the drain lol. Then it spawns me standing not laying how I was just now after reconnecting, and zombies killed me.

Wow, Just wow.... This really shouldn't have been released to the public so soon tbh lol.

That is an issue we are having on the gon server only, cos of the way the game saves your character to the dayz main server. If the hive system sruffs up i have no way to restart it remotely.

Ive been telling players this all day but no one seems to care or listen....

Nothing to do with the mod or game

I can shut the server down till monday if you like

I'm also sick of all the whingers and noobs that ask retarded questions

Also there is an entire arma section to chat aboot this why is there chat in 5 different threads spread all over the forums.....

Well there was 2-3 topics all talking about and advising people about the new dayz server, which is probably why the chat's everywhere.

I hope you're not saying I'm complaining? I'm just warning people who want to buy the game to play this to maybe wait, and also to ask what the problems were, I've been apart of MANY MAAAANY alpha's and I don't care about bugs. I get pissed off though when it simply just doesn't save your progress though, Don't see the point in playing if you lose your stuff all the time.

Not up to me to close it down, and I wouldn't as it's still a full server, There isn't much information about the servers, bugs in the servers, faq's etc about them, If you guys had some kind of "servers.gon.on.net" page where you can comment and talk about all the servers you could announce what bugs ppl are having, direct them to tutorials to play such a clunky game etc etc, would stop a lot of the complainers.

I just got D/C again, 2 or 3 times now in 20 minutes. I think I might stay out for the night, I'll rage quit if I just lost a gun I just found which is awesome. hahahahahah!

You ARE just complaining, it's the very earliest release phase of the game ffs, bugs happen but so far in my experience at least half the problems are people who have just never played ARMA before thinking the game is like CoD.

Some of us have had less problems with the mod since the first alpha than many people have had in a single day... that can't be a coincidence.

I now think that, bugs aside, the biggest 'game-play' problem is there being no reason to not kill every thing that moves, particularly other players.

There is no reason to not shoot every random person you see, particularly when 70% of the time they'll only shoot you first if given the chance.

I died [got shot] today at the NW airfield because instead of just killing all 4 of the people at the AF, I tried to help one of them who was being chased by Zs.
While using my DMR [with 100+ rounds I had accumulated] to snipe Zs for the guy being chased one of the other punks figured he wanted my stuff and shot me in the back.

What I should have done was just stay half a mile down the runway where I was and kill them all, pick their bones for anything of value and then hide the corpses.


I'd still have a completed kit of everything I'd accumulated over 3 days.

From then on my friends and I just kill everyone, no questions.

The mantra is 'if its moving, it needs more bullets.'

You guys are lucky, I've spent last 13 hours laying in one spot, unable to do a thing cos the game says im dead but not dead an I'm unconscious but not. So I cant talk cant log out cant do a thing. As for asking people to come kill me so I can respawn.... (Irony incoming) none wants to kill me....

Any Admins for the Day Z server ? ppl are sitting in "waiting for server response" for up to an hour at moment.
