I'm mostly here for the solo experience myself. Might get online with friends after I've finished at least normal. Not usually the multiplayer type usually though.

The game's fun when it works. Hopefully I can get on after work? *cross fingers*

Just a warning for some people, apparently some Templar follower has a game breaking bug - http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2012/05/d ... -the-game/

Also, so much for "it's a multiplayer game" :P

Wait, I'm a demon hunter, and gave my templar a shield. Admittedly after I'd hired him, I was unaware you could give other characters items...

I would say fair enough if you were just assuming all that. Though I really don't understand how you even got the impression that it would move that far away from Diablo 2's gameplay.

That said, I'm quite flattered that I'm so memorable that you remember my exact posts from September last year. :) It looks like I have an admirer. Do you have red hair?

Haha, no. Not quite. :58_80: It was just one of those funny opinions that came up in a number of jokes between friends on the subject of other games.

It wasn't hard to remember or track down the posts as it was easy to remember it was about the Diablo beta review, being that's where the whole 'MMO' joke thing came from in the first place.

Seriously, you have to see the funny side to it now. :P

We are in the process of performing an emergency maintenance for Diablo III servers in the Americas to resolve several issues that are currently impacting the game. We so not have an ETA of when services will be restored at this time. We will provide further updates as necessary.

Thank you for your patience.

No thank you, Blizzard, for giving me a F$#%KING FAULTY PRODUCT!

This is why there should be "offline" play in a single player game.

No it's why Blizzard shouldn't be so arrogant about their hardware capabilities.

I imagine this debacle was caused by bean counters going on the 'financially safe' side of not releasing enough hardware to support the game online. Servers cost money, and for some reason they thought they could get away with less.

We are aware players are experiencing issues logging in to Diablo III, remaining connected to the Battle.net service, and using in-game features. We are currently working to address these issues and will provide further updates as they become available.

Thank you for your ongoing patience as well as your reports.

[Update]
We're continuing to work on the issues currently affecting the Americas region, which are resulting in failed login attempts and service issues. While we've identified the causes and are working to resolve them, we expect our efforts to require an approximate two hours to complete. We expect game services to fully return by approximately 11:45 p.m. PDT. We apologize for the downtime, and appreciate your continued patience.

Wouldnt need hardware on their end if they made their singleplayer game offline like they should have :P
Guess those beancounters were to busy counting their 15% cut to care about end users ;)

Meh. I played straight through from about 9 pm to 6AM.

I know others had problems, but I do expect the problems to be resolved within 24 hours of launch.

And they'll always need hardware for achievements and auctions and stuff. It was the log in servers getting hammered, not the game servers. So even moving it mostly offline wouldn't do much.

Yes because Blizzard clearly forced you to buy it on release day, instead of waiting until the teething problems were worked out.

If you have no patience for dealing with such issues, don't subject yourself to them. Or has the fact that there are some initial technical issues caught you that much by surprise?

I can definitely see the argument that the game would have not had these issues if single player play didn't require an Internet connection to their servers. But it's not like that fact wasn't known previous to release.
