Sega, Nintendo, and struggling publisher THQ have all publicly announced their decision to pull out of the German games show, Gamescom, this year. Nintendo is claiming a decision to "broaden post-E3 activities", while Sega points to "unfortunate release timing" that clashes with their AAA releases. THQ, for their part, are not only missing out on Gamescom but are vastly scaling down their E3 presence as well. With booths at E3 generally costing from hundreds of thousands to upwards of a million dollars, the move is being widely interpreted as a purely financial decision.
