Trion Launches RIFT Streaming Client

Unread postby News Portal » 11 May 12, 12:00 pm

RIFT is the latest MMO to join the ranks of the streaming client, enabling you to patch as you play. Much like World of Warcraft you'll be able to play the game before the patch is actually complete, and monitor its progress from within the game via an on-screen indicator. It is recommended that only people with a connection of 5mbps or better begin playing while streaming is still going, and people on slower connections wait for it to finish. More information is available in the RIFT forums.

No, you launch the streaming client and login but can't pick any servers...

Rift's doing pretty well, getting content updates, still decently populated on at least some of the servers and has server transfers available if you find you're on a dead one.
Good to see them add a streaming client, should let people get in and play a lot easier. And they have a free-till-20 unlimited time trial. People should check it out if they want something a bit different, MMO-wise.

I've played, left and then returned (from Swtor) to Rift. There is heaps of new content, active community, instant adventures, cross server dungeon queues, crafting rifts. I'm having a blast and can happily recommend Rift to anyone either new or returning.
