I've been telling myself to plunge in and by a CoD game and just see what it's like but I can't help but feel I'll be on the street within an hour selling my body to earn that $100 back...

Say that to their board meeting when the game is still making constant rate of income and they will look at you as a deviant.

Say that to their board meeting when the game sale is decaying however and you'll get an actual serious thought.

This is not new, years ago it was WW2 stuff and the exact same thing happened though the companies were smaller in some cases while others that are now gone were still around strong as ever.

Ironically, that was how MW1 came about... and the resistance when they tried to sell the idea to their board is... well... you know the rest of the story.

There's no such thing as 'i wanna do something different' when it comes to cash cow flag titles without serious wrestling with their board. And there's nothing that gets their serious attention more than sales figure.

What happened to Mason and such being disowned by their government and fleeing to South Africa? Pretty sure that was strongly hinted in the emails in the first Black Ops. Still, this looks interesting.

Reminded me of Darkest of Days, actually. Just the horses and robots really.

^ Wow. What an awful setting for a FPS.

Back to BLOPS2 - The very short snippets of horses look to be set somewhere like Afghanistan. If they story does in fact take them there - they've been riding horses in Afghanistan for hundreds of years - do you really think they wont in another 13? I don't see the presence of horses to be that crazy. Of course, they're using it to show a nice contrast with all the futuristic western weaponry, but that is really not that different to the US flying Apache gunships and Predator drones around there right now. Until more of the story comes out, I'm not going to judge on the mere presence of horses in a trailer. Hell, if they're following the BLOPS format, it could be a flashback anyway, right? The fact that there is a Hind (ie, Russian) chopper flying overhead makes me think it may very well be a 1980s-era Afghanistan flash back. That old zombie dude would be old enough to be remembering fighting there back in those days in 2025.

I'm not a fan of COD at all, but if you're going to hate, pick on something that is irrefutably rubbish, such as the engine that is now...What? 5 years old? At least? Or the fact that all their voice overs sound like an actor trying far too hard to put on a tough sounding voice.

The story - the idea of drones etc being turned against their owners - is actually pretty interesting and certainly within the realms of possibility. For some reason though, I tend to share (what appears to be) the cynical, but general belief of people in this thread that this is nothing more than an attempt to cash in on their beloved franchise again. The mere fact they believe it's perfectly fine to continue using a graphics engine that looked dated in 2008 seems to prove this. Sure, it's not all about graphics, but if you're going to continue to rehash a game over and over with very little in the way of innovation to the gameplay, then at least show you're trying somewhere...

Battlefield: Drake's Black Crysis HAWX 2

Looks interesting... will probably get it... maybe...

EDIT: As to Azza above, I agree, stop trotting out the same goddamn engine, give it two or three years development and blow us away!

And I thought I was the only one that noticed the uncharted 3 similarity.

Really? Because when I saw the above, I thought we were getting another zombie mode in BLOPS2.

And source has had a huge amount of visual updates over the years. It's very hard to make a comparison. They've added - just off the top of my head - HDR lighting, fluid dynamics, multiprocessor support and cloth simulation. Lighting and textures (specifically, horribly low resolution textures) are what holds the IW engine back. And it's hard to use the the fact that they need it to run on consoles as an excuse any more when engines like CryENGINE 3 and Frostbite 2 look significantly better and run on both 360 and PS3.

Time to put some investment into your cashcow, Activision. It's made you a few billion. The least you could do is give your girl the facelift she's been begging you for. She's earned it.

I will probably give it a go simply because it is made by treyarch. Atleast they listen to community feedback and have some common sense. Its Infinity Ward that keep **** **** up with the COD games. MW3 was such a step back, especially for the PC version.

BlackOps had the best multiplayer from the COD games in a very long time. I have plenty of faith in them, and i really do dislike COD and have for a fair while. But i'm happy to give treyarch a chance as they're a development team with some common sense and not afraid to make the game a little different.

Dunno what the whinge is about modern soldiers riding horses. I mean a quick internet search shows it's not exactly a fantasy

The graphics don't exactly inspire me but I'm willing to give this a go...I've always enjoyed the COD singleplayer franchise.
