Convergence Review' Urges Federal Government to Take Games Seriously

The Convergence Review, commissioned in March of 2011, has released its final report today (PDF link) and is urging the Federal Government to offer tax breaks and improve funding for the games industry in Australia as a whole. Unfortunately the amount of money it recommends - $2 to $5 million - is still vastly less than the amount recommended to be funneled to film ($22 million), but it's a start.

Just remember it's looking at it from an angle focused on managing convergence, not the health/growth of the industry.

So many problems with meta game of the review though. Sounds fair and reasonable to read... but can't help feeling that giving governments more control/influence in the media is a bad thing for society though.
