Valve's New Employee Handbook Leaked, Job Applications Doubl

Unread postby News Portal » 22 Apr 12, 11:14 am

Alright, we made up the bit about the applications doubling, but don't be surprised if they do: Valve's New Employee Handbook, which was posted yesterday on the Flamehaus forums, shows an amazing company full of wonder, joy, and week-long company-paid vacations (bring your family, they're included). The handbook, which has since been linked from the official Valve Facebook page, is replete with entertaining illustrations and a very Valve-like sensibility, and makes for amazing reading. Check it out.

Australia — A place that’s either very near or is New Zealand where more
than half of Valve’s employees were born.

Getting reports that the handbook is a fake.

Always been a dream of mine to work at Valve.

They genuinely seem like they enjoy what they do and it isn't so much as a job rather then a hobby.

There's some valuable lessons that the likes of EA can take from this book (not listening to your customers is a failure, repeating the same mistakes over and over again is a failure, etc).

There are valauble lessons here that the entire **** corporate world can take... Mind boggling how this works for a billion dollar company yet smaller ones keep silly heirarchies. I bet Valves employee retention is awesome.

A very entertaining read. If only this sort of company structure... wait... what company structure (see what i did there?) was more common.

While I couldn't agree more with that statement I can't help but think how hard it would be to get the foot in the door initially.
