Crysis 3 Officially Announced

Unread postby News Portal » 17 Apr 12, 2:27 pm

After the previous leak, EA have formally announced Crysis 3 for release in 2013. The game will see players taking the role of 'Prophet' inside a ruined and overgrown New York which has been encased in a 'Nanodome' by Cell Corp. The press release describes New York's Libery Dome as a "veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers," which is of course naturally powered by the latest CryEngine. The game has been confirmed to feature the compound bow pictured in the leaked box art.

It'll use Origin on PC so it can DIAF as far as I'm concerned.

So you've said numerous times.
I've just started playing Crysis 2 and it's definitely a step back from the first regarding the sandbox feel of the environment, but this looks as though it's taking a few steps forward to get back to the original feel.

Straight from the origin listing:

"• Assess, Adapt, and Attack - Crysis’s highly-acclaimed sandbox gameplay is back with more open levels to let players choose their path and approach. Your upgraded Nanosuit allows brute force or stealth, always giving you more than one option."

Great to see "Sandbox is back".

And guys, it's time to move on - origin isn't terrible, it's relatively unobtrusive, and doesn't reall affect you in any way. Stop complaining about it.

I boycotted the PC release because of its use of activation limits.

Crytek loves their DRM.

EDIT: My main point of contention with Origin is that it's beta software (it even says so in the client) that we're being forced to use.

EA should've really gotten a release version out before forcing us to use it. At least Valve did that with Steam.

My other point of contention is that it'll most likely not appear on Steam. The only way it might happen is if Crytek were to self-publish Crysis 3 on Steam.

To be fair, beta or no, Steam still sucked when it launched and faced all the same complaints from people (myself included) that Origin is facing now. It's a completely different kind of platform to what it was in 2004.

That said, Origin definitely sucks in its current state and is actively a liability to the experience of any game that is released exclusive to it. Certainly Crysis 3 will never see a dollar from me if there's no Steam version - that isn't because Steam is great, it's just because Origin sucks and I don't want to be juggling DRM clients the same way we used to have to juggle IM clients in the bad old days.

In a perfect world, I'd like to see the a software delivery platform that's centralised, accessible, stable, and overseen by a neutral third party with no stake in monopolising the market. Imagine that! Through torrents we already have the infrastructure for it, we'd just need publishers working together towards achieving something like that.

Umm yeah cos EA marketing would never lie about such things.

IF it's EA, you wait for the reviews from gamers before you go opening your wallet, despite what pre-order goodies they offer.

Once they have your money it's game over if you want something fixed.
Add Origin to the mix and it's NO SALE.

Origin IS terrible.. unless you mean as a peice of spyware.. in which case its great.. people KNOW its spyware and are _STILL_ stupid enought to install it all because they changed a document that goes with it.

I still have trouble getting steam to download at a decent rate, but origin downloads at my maximum speed. It's good ot know that when I buy a game off it I can actually download it.

The origin hating heroes again. No one wants to hear how cool you's think you are rebelling against using origin. You dumb asses, get a life.

Anywho, do like the idea they've got going hear, i didn't touch crysis 2, i heard too many bad things and that it wasn't as open ended as the first one.
This setting they're using sounds like it gives more freedom again (hopefully), it should look pretty sick too, new york with a forest growing in it lol
Either way i'll keen to jump into that suit again, you do some cool **** with that in the original, loved the stealth mode on it.
