BioWare Announced 'Extended Cut' Free DLC to add Additional

Unread postby News Portal » 5 Apr 12, 10:56 pm

Several minutes ago, a press release from EA arrived in our inbox announcing the arrival of the 'Extended Cut' DLC for [app=7843]Mass Effect 3[/app]. The DLC, which will arrive in winter and be free of charge, will "give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes" through "additional cinematic scenes and epilogue sequences". The DLC will not alter the ending of the game however, with BioWare releasing an FAQ to clarify that it will only expand upon the previous events and provide more closure.

Jubiliation mixed with equal parts of concern for future precedents and hope for future precedents!

It's definitely Australian winter.

As you can see here, the press release states summer, so when they checked and saw that GON was Australian, they changed it to say winter.

That's pretty exciting. I'm not looking for them to "change" the ending per-say but certainly some clarification would be most welcome.

Damn this is disheartening.. I was hoping for a paid, proper DLC so e could play the "real ending". My money was on Indoctrination Theory. Hopefully it won't be über gay

Hang on, do I understand this right you WANT to pay for a
"real ending"?

Indocrination theory is pretty stupid tbh. Half the arguments are actually lies and are easily explained as being just bugs (the game is full of them afterall) or very bad writing or just simply something else*. It's actually dumb tbh. Only maybe two of the arguments were compelling but even they could be explained.

*
Hidden: show
One argument was that the explosion Joker was running from was special because it blew up his engines. Um did they not once think that he was running away from the fricken super nova and not the thing the Crucible fired? As for the colour it was just poor writing trying to further visually show which ending was chosen.
*Insert negative stuff here.*

I'm not convinced the Indoctrination theory is so foolish. Foremost, the supposedly real ending is so bizarrely disconnected with the rest of the series as to seem some sort of horrible nightmare. Furthermore,

Hidden: show
Anderson. Ahead of you. Alone. Unhurt. In impeccable uniform. Chatting to the admittedly slightly less implausibly present Illusive Man.

Oh and your suddenly present pistol. With infinite ammo.

I'm sure there are much more comprehensive lists of inconsistencies supporting an indoctrination theory.

Oh and to whoever was looking forward to paid DLC - ... We gamers have fallen a very long way.

Oh come on, I still play Skyrim, it doesn't even HAVE an ending.

This was purely a screw up as far as dealing with peoples perceptions from what EA said was going to happen with this game.

If they want customers to stay customers they need to fix this kind of thing.
It's as simple as that.

I was going to make a comment but then I realized I don't actually give as hit about Mass Effect.
