Announcement: Change is Coming to games.on.net

Starting in April, games.on.net is making some changes to the way we operate in order to bring you a bigger, better site that delivers the content you want most. We’ve already unmetered access for all iiNet and Internode customers in both directions, but this is just the start of the changes you’re going to be seeing. Read on for all the details.

Excellent choice with dropping the review scores. I have read one or two articles on the topic, I couldn't agree anymore with what you guys are doing. Glad to see you have the gumption to back up your opinions, yet another reason why I keep coming back. Keep it up!

I liked having our pet newsbots here... even if they seem to sleep in till lunch every day Saves me having to "allow script" on all these other news sites that I dont trust and were designed by retards using IE not internet standards.

I kind of liked star ratings for reviews because I can see in the comments on the review what people did or did not like (by agreeing/disagreeing with review score) thus helping me decide if I want a game or not.

All other changes are good as I often hear of news before its on GON sometimes an entire day beforehand.

The newsbots aren't going away afaik, but they'll be writing articles more, like Toby's virtual vinal and sitreps.

I like the changes because there are way, way too many news sites on the internet already.

I kind of liked star ratings for reviews because I can see in the comments on the review what people did or did not like thus helping me decide if I want a game or not.

I guess they were kind of useful. Personally I don't like score-based rating systems myself, and I found myself getting lazy, looking at a review and going "TLDR oh look only 3 stars? Must be ****." Then eventually hearing from friends that the game wasn't that bad. So in that aspect the removal of the stars is a good thing.

So yeah, I think it's better to have a well-written review rather than some overall score that doesn't say very much. Good decision GON, keep up the good work!

As long as the features aren't about turning Diablo into an FPS this announcement can only lead to good for gon! I'm looking forward to it.
