Epic Battlefield 3 Patch Deploys

Unread postby News Portal » 30 Mar 12, 12:40 pm

Well, maybe [app=5812]Battlefield 3[/app] has Skyrim tied for the most patched game of the past year. DICE can’t stop tinkering with this bad-boy’s FPS mayhem, and their latest swag of fixes and improvements rolls out today. It pays particular attention to the game’s PC following, with an updated commo rose that’s a bit of a godsend and much-improved mini-maps as well. Of most importance: THE JEEPS HAVE HORNS.

I have been playing Battlefield 2 a fair bit on and off the past month and I am having a lot more fun than BF3 was and they are finally adding some things from BF2 that are what I would call basic things.

For some silly reason they made the game less realistic....
Grenades DO NOT damage tanks :x  :62_58_40: :refilao: :mad2:
Helicopters and jests are fragile.... they need a patch to fix this patch

Comments on battlefield blog went ape-shit over this. It is pretty dumb though, releasing these pay-to-win purchases now after everyone else has grinded (ground?). Almost certain BF4 will be F2P after this conditioning ;)

The only differences I noticed was

1. My aek does piss all damage than before
2. New footstep sounds and new tree falling sounds
3. Sort of new map view, still can't bloody click where I want to spawn. Have to press 1 2 3 4 location which I have no idea where only pressing do I see where the circle points to.. so dumb

Really? it makes perfect sense to me, why block out all new players due to them having no unlocks? Your basically screwed in vehicles, and people will constantly whine about you using a semi-auto sniper. The game has been out long enough, most people are colonels on the servers i play on.

The first thing that affected me after this patch was released was the damn bipod attachment not working.

After some google searching, seems like they introduced a new key bind for bipod and it had defaulted to some other key currently in use and therefore would not work until I remapped it.

Very annoying.

I'm not bothered by the unlock purchases. It's the equivalent of spending real world money to buy in-game currency. If people want to spend money and take the short cut, it doesn't affect me in the slightest. At this point I've unlocked 98% of the stuff anyway through fairly casual play, without the need for grinding.

So far I've notice helicopters seem to be getting raped much more by shoulder-launched AA missiles. Dunno how effective that below-radar is any more.

The thing is, even though it's getting them some money for it, they're at least giving newer players a chance to get similar weapons to people who've been playing a long time.

I've been seeing an influx of newer players lately, and they're just getting absolutely RAPED by people who have all of the new weapons, and all attachments, and this will at least give them a fighting chance, without giving them an unfair advantage.
