Skyrim Patch 1.5.26 is Live on Steam

Unread postby News Portal » 30 Mar 12, 11:44 am

Egad, another [app=7846]Skyrim[/app] patch. Possibly the most heavily fixored mainstream release of the last couple of years, we’re used to Bethesda dropping huge patches for le Skyrim with aplomb – but this one’s surprising in that it’s not actually that huge. It does tend to those niggling plug-in related crashes you might’ve been having, but otherwise, it’s totally not what the massive cure-all that the console patrol have been hanging out for. That update has been submitted to manufacturers and is pending approval.

Damn you Bethesda, where's the patch to address your totally broken anti-aliasing implementation?

Between your crappy AA and the latest AMD drivers, AA is unusable for many Radeon users.

Please please please please just re-enable the ability to override in-game AA via the Vision Control Centre (which you annoying disabled for no apparent reason).

Yeah, you're right - I mean, my card has massive problems with AA in other recent games.

Oh wait, no it doesn't. It has problems in Skyrim, because Bethesda have forced the use of their own AA system and force-disabled the use of AMD's native AA. It works well in everything else.

AMD's drivers are flaky, but there is a specific and unusual problem in Skyrim. The two companies need to get together and fix it.
