Sony Tips PS4 to Release Ahead of XBox 720

Though the details and specs of the next generation XBox have only recently come to light, Sony is confident that their next console, codenamed the Orbis, will be on shelves and in homes well before Christmas 2013, when the XBox 720 is pegged for release. According to a spy at VG247 the designs and specs have existed for two years, and Sony are confident that they "have the jump on Microsoft this time".

I don't understand how it could be considered to be using DirectX (Direct3D) because its not using Cell Processors and instead AMD hardware.

It used OpenGL previously and will mostly likely be the case still. Direct3D is Microsoft, you know Windows and XBox...

For them to implement Direct3D it would be like Linux's attempt to support Direct 3D games via Wine.

Yeah that is an odd statement. Would've preferred them to have their own API, maybe they weren't able to put one together that was good enough.

It probably will though I wonder how they'll justify the price especially if the 360 has better hardware (I hope not).

Wasn't the initial super high price due to Blu-Ray?
