If this is an attempt at viral marketing, it seems to have worked...and backfired.

Yeah, at Dick Smith Marion at least. Don't know about all the price list but 3 crates of xboxs wen't in 5 mins, about 8 buckets of $5 actually good games, and I know people picked up $20 dsi's. And I saw at least 2 G27's.

Was 1st in line at Roselands store today, only store around Sydney that had stock available through the stock checking system on the website. Only to watch non uniform staff enter through a side door 5 minutes before 9am and clear the place out. Not surprised but still disappointed by how obvious they were about it.
Did get a set of Turtle Beach MW3 Earforce Charlie Z6A headphones for $60 for pc that I thought were for Xbox so are useless to me.
Borderlands game of the year edition $5, Fallout New Vegas $5, Tony Hawk Ride with deck $5 and Homefront $5.

You can use them on Xbox but you need additional accessories. Bear in mind that the headset is poorly made and breaks easily. I should know as my set broke on me without being mistreated.

EDIT: Just to keep it on topic, I found this one via the Dick Smith Facebook page.

Staff grabbing a console for themselves: fair enough.
Staff grabbing multiple consoles in order to re-sell on Ebay: scumbags.

By the time the store opens... the staff already took most of them here.

And hell many of the stores did not even heard of it.

It's most likely never planned for public at all, a staff sale it seems that were leaked out and for some reason confirmed by their facebook instead of denied or no comment.

So... Mother of All Gaming Sales?

BEEP BEEP... DENIED!

Based on talking to people at DSE, here's how it went down:

1) Sale list leaked with WRONG start date. Date listed as Monday which was the date to start changing tags and prices - not the start of the sale. Sale scheduled for start on 11th.
2) Lists go viral.
3) Poor communication leads DSE social media team to confirm incorrect leaked date on FB and Twitter.
4) A lot of internal nonsense where heads were rolling because the social media team should never have said anything.
5) Sale date changed to Monday because of the leak and incorrect confirmation on fb/twitter.

- Most stock was never in stock to begin with due to all sale stock being old discontinued models. There were only a few old consoles per region, most stores started out with no stock of any consoles.
- Dick Smith never confirmed the leak list, only the date of a clearance sale.
- Whoever first confirmed it on FB/Twitter is probably in a lot of ****.

Sounds about right. It's how I saw it as I posted it much earlier in the thread. Sh!t hit the fan when Facebook and Twitter got involved so it's still Dicksmiths fault.
