The PlayStation 4, Codename: Orbis

Unread postby News Portal » 29 Mar 12, 11:29 am

What would another week be without a next-generation console rumour to pontificate over endlessly? This week it’s Sony’s turn to fall under the speculative rumouring microscope. According to a Kotaku report, the PlayStation 4 is currently in production under the codename “Orbis,” and due to see the light of lounge room day in 2013. “Orbis” is Latin for “ring,” or “circle.” Cue console conspiracy: When sat next to the Vita – Latin for “life” – it all makes a certain kind of sense. Circle of life, don’t you see? Also the Reptilians are invading.

Whats the deal with anti second hand stuff. Its like making paperback books destroy themselves when you sell it to a second-hand bookstore or donate it to the salvos etc.

So you're basically saying I have no reason to buy the PS4 and my PS3 is still as awesome as ever?

It's really getting out of hand, surely there's something illegal with what they plan to do with their anti second hand stuff. I can actually see them losing tons of market share from this. I agree that preowned sales have just gotten insane but surely there's another way.

At least the specs sound a lot better than the rumoured Xbox720 ones.

I thought a single activated key was sufficient to stop second hand games that way you have to buy a new copy to play MP which PC games have had for donkeys years.

Also I do hope it doesn't end up getting the name Orbis, it sounds as fail as Vita.

I doubt Sony will use an AMD CPU. Seems more likely to be a IBM designed chip as with past console releases due to the two company's parntership.

i've never been a huge second hand buyer but I have traded in 90% of my old ps3 games i don't play anymore. If you cant trade your games in or buy second hand games they are going to lose massive market shares. please dont f*** it up again sony i finally got all my mates to buy ps3's and come online dont take that away!

Do the games at the video store count as second-hand games? Because that'll be a big part of their business gone.. :?

Dare I scoff; all these publishers crucifying the pc platform over a few minor flaws, only to turn around and do everything they can to make consoles more like pc... :|
