Bit weird if that is meant to be standard procedure. Never had any store do this to me. Would probably realise I would then go "Screw you guys" and walk the extra 30 metres to the EB Games and get price matching from them.

Ordered AC Revelations off them this morning, spoke to a guy at the store and he said they were swamped. The price at HN is still cheaper than Steam with a 50% off coupon.

Just ordered a game - apparently I need to take a copy of the tax invoice in to the local store to collect my game... The page said I had been sent a confirmation email (Which hasn't arrived...) and that the tax invoice is sent separately:

"A copy of your order confirmation has been emailed to name@address.com
Please note: tax invoices are emailed separately."

My questions are:

1. How long have people been waiting for the confirmation email?
2. Is the confirmation email good enough to collect the game with?
3. If the answer to 2. is:"NO", how long until the tax invoice has been arriving?
I am keen to know so I can plan my evening's entertainments.

Cheers

I ordered around 2:20pm yesterday and got the 'pick up ur games' email today at 11am. I wouldn't go out of my way to try and grab the game early, unless it was close by.

Thanks Ralph, the store is about 1500m away, and I am going out shortly, so if there was only 30 mins. or so wait, I would have hung around... Looks like I am picking up after work tomorrow. Cheers for the quick reply. :)

I got an email from a local HN store saying they were unable to supply one game, so they are cancelling the order, but sending the other game.

Seems kinda pointless to pay the postage cost for 1 game that you're trying to get cheap when the postage is more than 25% of the game cost.

Not real happy about that, so I asked them to try to supply it from another store or advise further. Disappointed they just tried to push it through without letting me have any say in it.

Did the system let u check the store inventory before ordering? I had to try a few stores before finding one which had both my games. It would suck to say it was in stock and then suddenly turnaround and say they've run out.

Yeah, I ordered 5 games on Wednesday and at the time they were in stock even on Thursday they were coming up as in stock and today I get a email saying 3 have been back ordered and it'll take 14 days. Big fail Harvey, gonna cancel my order now.

I suspect I may be in a similar boat. Was stock in store when I ordered. When I called today to find out what was taking so long was told 'There is a 48 hour delay for online ordering. When they get to your order you will probably get asked if you want a refund or different games.'

Not happy :(

Reading from the article on the DSE sale
Reportedly, Dick Smith are not able to advertise the sale due to consumer laws that take issue with high demand and limited stock colliding.

Does this apply here? Maybe Marius has some ideas on this?

After several emails and the lady I was speaking to checking with her manager, I finally got them to agree to backorder the game they didn't have in stock and ship the one they did. When the other game arrives, they will ship it for free.

I'm in no rush, so for that price I'm happy.

I also found out apparently the "2 per customer" was left to the discretion of whatever local store your order got forwarded to. (yes, they did this). My store (Marion) enforced the two per person, while many others didn't.

From the DSE thread if they don't supply the game it's pretty much a breach of the Trade Practices Act. I'll hold that over them if I have to.

Ordered 2 games on Wednesday arvo. Got this email late today.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Due to an overwhelming response we are very sorry to advise we have sold out of the game you have ordered during our (50% off) online sale.

Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience, our customer service team will be in touch to arrange a refund or alternatively you could choose another title while in store for the same value.

Regards
Harvey Norman City Cross Store

Not impressed. I went in to see if they had either game for me but they didn't.
They had games there with the 50% off price label on them and when I placed my order they had stock according to the website.

And no, there were no decent alternative games left.
