Bahh!

I'd have been happy if I was able to get either iiNet or Internode where I live, but instead I'm stuck w/ Telstra as they're the ONLY ones we could connect to for ADSL2+

EDIT: Apparently not, I've just been told. Sorry :(

Yep!

These, too, are unmetered.

We have tested all of this extensively, but it's conceivable there may be some IP ranges we missed. If you find that some iiNet content is being counted against your quota when it shouldn't be, please let us know!

In relation to steam content servers, haven't all Australian content servers always been unmetered?

iiNet unmetered content largely has the same things as Internode did anyway, with the exception of XBLive and iTunes (which I personally dont use). Regardless of whether I use it or not I think having unmetered iTunes and XBLive is a good thing for most people.

I am predicting a combined gaming network of games.on.net powered by iinet.

Also a chance it could stay as its current "powered by internode" but either way, both gaming networks will come under the single model / brand.

More broadly, I think it's likely that all the free / unmetered offerings will move to internode's on.net model, but maybe under the parent company name - a far more consistent and user friendly naming compared to the current various iinet names.

If anything they'll merge into us in terms of gaming. We have a much more active community/file server/servers etc.

O_O

Definitely excited about XBL one day being unmetered.

Got an email saying that my service will be moved to an Internode DSLAM (they don't have any in our area so I assume they mean the iiNet DSLAM). A bit wary, I was under the assumption that I was on a RIM and someone around here said that means I wouldn't be migrated. Also wary over any change in quality of the connection, i'm happy with the speeds and ping I get, hopefully they won't go down. Finally i'll get 10gigs more for the same price as i'm paying now....not as amazing an upgrade as I was expecting but nothing to complain about.
*Insert negative stuff here.*

Not currently able to query them. I have PMed you my current IP address, though I'm sure you could pull it from the forum post anyway ;)

It's not really the whole story. While the IP addresses have been on the unmetered list for quite a long time, both the 3FL servers were filtered to only allow iiNet IP ranges.

Correct, if this is the rest of the story, yeah that's a fair comment to make

If an Australian steam server is not public and is filtered by the provider, You will not be able to receive data from it. As you are already aware of this, All australian steam servers that we can unmeter. We will :icon14: :D

Isn't odd at all, yes :icon14:

Alternatively, take a moment to set up a channel with us for Teamspeak or mumble (or both!) :)

Huzzah! As an iiNet customer I finally have access to all the awesome games.on.net freezone and such. If they do attempt to merge 3FL with GON, I hope GON comes out on top in some sense. I've been coming here for years now to get my daytime gaming news, and frankly 3FL doesn't even close to compare. Their fileservers are always badly lacking and out of date too.

WAIX and VIC-IX are unmetered too.

QLD-IX doesn't appear to let anyone use it.

And yes, my story was related specifically to the 3FL servers. It's irrelevant if it is unmetered when you have no access to it ;)

I think Cas might be suggesting that Internode customers are now no longer blocked from the iinet filtering?
