The fact that they're implementing different crosshairs from torso mounted weapons and arm mounted weapons is awesome and seems to show that the developers are actually interested in the Battletech universe.

This article has increased my interested by about a billio. 8)

Agreed.

As much as I loved the single player aspects of Mechwarrior 2, 3 and 4, this game sounds like it will good fun.

As long as I can pilot a Jade Falcon Timber Wolf, all will be well.

clans not gonna be in the game at the start i think and was intended for further down the timeline?,
With one IRL day == 1 virtual day in MWO world it'll take a while before Clan arrives iirc, though i am not sure if there will be special event that moves the time forward faster than normal... (though there will be events that act out the known events in battletech fluff that may change the world state in some way) otherwise we'd be waiting for almost 2 years before Clan invasion.

The dev blog on the webpage incidentally is CHOKE full of information, from control scheme, how factions fight in the world and the various group you can join (factions, mercenaries, lone wolf) and the benefit and progression of each (mercenaries effectively are player clans it seems) which frankly just made me want the game even sooner.

Incidentally, the mech redesign are sweet... i mean i love commandos for example, but i sure never saw battletech commando art design like THIS before:

It almost feel like it has Armored Core mech design built into it

The Clan invasions of the Innersphere proper, Operation Revival, starts March 3050. This year being 3049 for the 1 day IRL = 1day in game. So beside the Kell hounds run in with elements of Clan Wolf on the 13th of August 3049 there won't be much mention of them till next year.

So on that note if you are part of the FRR or a merc company doing missions near the Periphery March next year, good luck with that.

3049? oh wait that's right we start with 3048 dec last year...

but you know, wouldn't those mercs group also be the first one to gain access to clan tech?

coz then that's totally worth the possible loss of worlds.

All depends on how the Devs do the Clans, if they are even remotely close to the technological advantage they have in the Pen & Paper or the fluff from the novels no one can stand up to them when they first arrive. An if you go up against Clan Ghost Bear they make a point of dispossessing mercs of their mechs.

If they Clans are just other players I doubt they will give them that kind of advantage. It would only make sense to keep them at that level of advantage if they played by Zellbrigen and let's face it the odds of everyone strictly following the Clans rules for honourable combat are slim. Otherwise they have mech that are faster, more heavily armed, armoured and can hit at ranges 200 to 300% beyond IS effective range.

One Star of Clan Omni Mechs (5) has a fair chance of destroying a full company (12) of Innersphere mechs.

They may make it "fair" by having the clans being outnumbered vs inner sphere players. Would even things up a little, but good teamwork can work for either side.

the word 'teamwork' and 'pub' don't mix...

in all likelihood i doubt they'll let players becoming trueborn clanners.

most likely they will be additional factions per say with LPs for specific clans, which we can work with.

I've been reading up about pre clan invasion I was wondering if anyone can give a list or a link to were I can read up on pre clan mechs and the specs, my house mate gave me a heap of books but I have no idea were to start with them I know its before 3050 but there is a lot of mechs to cover, unless to make it easier have they announced what mechs will feature in the game, will we see tanks and fighters ? even more importantly will we see elemental's ?

note : I have been to the Battletech wiki as well there is a lot to sift through (reading it all anyway)
