Sorry Alex you do write great articles and contribute a lot to the site but i just wish we could do away with the term: eSports, its the biggest oxymoron out.

Why cant we just call it what it really is: professional competitive gaming.

what? why would we do that? eSport is a fine word. if we were to not use the word eSport, I would expect people to just call it a sport. but calling it an eSport helps some ignorant people stay calm.

explain to me how golf is a sport and gaming can't be.

Dictionary:
1. an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
2. a particular form of this, especially in the out of doors.

Unless you choose another definition:
3. diversion; recreation; pleasant pastime.
In which case reading a book/watching a movie is also sport (ie. bSport, vSport ?), as is smelling flowers?

My personal take on it lies in the remaining definitions:
4. jest; fun; mirth; pleasantry: What he said in sport was taken seriously.
5. mockery; ridicule; derision: They made sport of him.

Yes, eSport is a joke. :)
