Development on Terraria has Ceased

Andrew 'Redigit' Spinks has announced that effective immediately, all development on [app=8259]Terraria[/app] has ceased. There are one or two more bug fixes still in the works for the Minecraft-esque hit indie game, but no more bosses or biomes are in the pipeline, as Redigit is taking an extended sabbatical.

Eh i'm happy he supported the game for this long with FREE updates. Can't really complain.

I'm a little bit disappointed that we wont be seeing the alternate dimensions/alien planets they were talking about a while back. But at the same time not really worried because their new game will take that idea to a whole new level.

There's probably only so much that can be tacked on to Terraria before it all gets too much for the game. Frankly I'm amazed it was supported with free content as long as it was (not because it was bad or anything, I've put a shameful number of hours into that game). They could easily have packed all those content updates into an expansion and sold it for another $5 or so.

I do have to say that I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what Starbound is all about.
