Not sure what daikatana is but guessing it's not so good.
They did, but it was a different office.
Daikatana wasn't really as awful as most people make out, it was just painfully average in every way and a massive disappointment after all the hype and all the time it took. It's worth giving this article a read
, it's really quite a fascinating read about pretty much everything that can go wrong with the development of a game. Massively optimistic development timelines, enormous team of inexperienced staff, engine switches leading to almost a complete restart of the project, PR disasters (see the image in the article) and a full-scale mutiny among the development staff. After all that happened in that time, it's amazing that the game even made it onto the shelves.
I'm still a big fan of Romero and his career, even if he pretty much disappeared from the spotlight completely after the Daikatana debacle. Can't help but like the guy. I'd love to see what he could do with an FPS after learning his lessons from his Ion Storm days. People still give him a lot of ****, but let's not forget he WAS a big part of Doom and Quake's development, and really, I think he's got a good potential to sit in with the likes of Warren Spector and Tim Schafer as real anomalies in the industry.
EDIT: What? They censor the word '****' here?
