Want a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Beta Key?

Unread postby News Portal » 23 Feb 12, 10:54 am

Well, well, well. Today seems to be Try To Get a Beta Key Thursday. That’s way more appealing than Buy a Vita Thursday! Please!, which is kind of what my inbox insists today should be. [app=8543]Counter-Strike: Global Offensive[/app] got you a mite excited? Me three. According to the official blog, some folk are already enjoying it. 9,000 in fact, which is how many keys have been fired off to Counter-Strike 1.6 and Source players, plus various members of various communities. Now it's OVER 9.000, and the door has opened up a little wider to include everyone.

I filled out one of these for DOTA 2 and still don't have a beta key.

There should be an option for "Started playing CS when it was Beta 4 but I now feel like a novice when I play CS:S every now and then"

Yeah there needs to be an option for the following:

played goldeneye map all day

remember flashbangs having gnarly shrapnel

"what bomb?"

I'll help you noobs out a bit (from a 1.6 player's POV).

The AK47 is definitely better value than the M4. However, for what ever reason, you might prefer the M4.

The AK47 and the M4 are both technically better value than the AWP. However, the AWP provides extra map control and is great for getting those crucial picks. It's a game changer, but does not necessarily earn a player "more kills per dollar" unless they're **** amazing with it (think KSharp level).

That said, I believe these questions are purely subjective. Answer these however you will, but keep the above in mind if you're not entirely sure of your own preferences.

As for the "if a team wins the pistol round, are they more likely to win the game [half]?" question: statistically, yes, but only slightly more likely.

I don't think the questions are really a test, all of them bar the pistol round question are just a matter of play style.

Tactical Intervention (a 'Counter Strike' style game made by the co-creator of the original) is also entering closed beta and you can pick up a key in the same manner here.
Hidden: show

The graphics do not impress me but none of that matters if the gameplay is spot-on…

It is pretty much subjective, I'm a straight up colt player. So value for money for me will always be in the colt over the AK. but AK over awp.. Unless I'm having a good day or playing bad enemy snipers :P

Then the real question is "silencer or no silencer?".

DoD:S was shite, they took all the best parts of the game and either removed them or made them feel terrible (seriously, is it POSSIBLE to shoulder a weapon that slow?).

Beta 3.5..
Farvorite weapon
AWP/FN P90.
Whats with this css/1.6 question?
3.5 was definatly the best version and if they still had WON servers I'd play it again!
